Edna Mae Henderson Young Weight
Who went to see all her old friends and loved ones painlessly and peacefully on 15 June 2024, at 8:15 that evening.
Edna was born to Ada Elizabeth Hartley and Henry Newton Henderson on May 16th, 1923 in Helper, Utah. She married Lester Eugene (Gene) Young on December 28th 1940, in Provo, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa, Arizona LDS Temple on April 2nd, 1952. Gene died on June 7th, 1987. She married Woodrow (Woody) Weight on August 31st, 1990, in Springville, Utah. Woody died on 17 August 2014.
She attended elementary schools in Price, Salina, and Kanab, Utah and graduated from Spanish Fork High School. Edna also attended the Phoenix Technical School for a year graduating as a licensed Practical Nurse in 1951.
During World War II, she operated an overhead crane at Alcoa in Phoenix, Arizona. She also drove for a diaper service company there. She later worked at the Payson Hospital for 5 years.
Edna was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many of the auxiliaries at the ward level having been in an MIA Presidency, counselor in both the Primary and Relief Society organizations, Ward Primary and MIA Teacher. She served as a counselor in the Stake Primary organization.
Edna also served as a temple worker in the Provo Temple for two years. She filled an LDS mission to Connecticut during 1988. She and her husband Woodrow served an LDS service mission at the Spanish Fork LDS Employment Office for a year and a half.
Edna is survived by her son Kim E. (Joan) Young of Layton, Utah and daughter Lisa A. Rudd (Scott Carrier) of Provo, Utah. Daughter Patricia M Jackson passed away in 1997. When Edna married Woodrow Weight, he had 6 adult children: Larry D. (Karin) Weight, Provo; Lynn E. (Carol) Weight, Santaquin; Shirl R. Weight, North Ogden; Susan (Steve) Bartholomew, Springville; Randy K. Weight, Apollo Beach, Florida; Danny R. Weight, Springville. She was a friend and grandmother to all the wonderful children who she loved dearly.
Edna was predeceased by her father Henry Newton Henderson and mother Ada Elizabeth Hartley Henderson; her siblings Henry Callis Henderson, Arthur Bernice Henderson, Ralph Irvin Henderson, Hazel Mary Henderson, Rex Hartley Henderson and Rose Little Shepherd. Also, her son-in-law Norman Jackson and two step daughters-in-law: Toni Weight and Cathy Weight.
Edna is survived by her sister Faye Drage of Spanish Fork.
Edna “Sis” and family want to give a special Thank You to the Harmony Home Health and Hospice in Sandy, Utah, for their untiring care and love they gave Sis.

A viewing for friends and family will be held Tuesday, June 25th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville, Utah. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26th at Wheeler Mortuary with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will follow in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
