Electa Taylor Clark

Electa Taylor Clark, age 91 of Springville, passed away Monday, June 4, 2007. She was born May 8, 1916 in Springville, Utah to Willie James and Hannah Wood Taylor. She was the first of their eleven children with two older step-siblings, Luther and Bessie Brake. Electa married Joe J. Joseph and they later divorced. She married Ronald E. Clark on November 17, 1937.



Electa served as the Director of C.O.P.E. (Committee On Political Education) for AF of L / CIO Unions for the State of Utah. Her work for C.O.P.E. took her to several states and included Rocky Mountain Labor School and her job at the Industrial Commission took her all over the state. She was responsible for high vote turnout during the President Kennedy election. Into her late 70's, Electa continued to bowl and hunt. She was in partnership in H.E. Worms with her sister, Holly, selling night crawlers at the mouth of Provo and Spanish Fork Canyons. At the Springville Senior Citizens Center, Electa was in charge of rug weaving for many years. She was Barbizon's first "Floor Lady".



She is survived by one daughter, Luella (Richard, deceased) Farnworth of Spanish Fork; five grandchildren: Cathy (Steve) Devenish of Provo & Las Vegas, Margie (Marvin) Butler of Spanish Fork, Pat (Gary) Eden of Spring Lake, Pam (Don) Anderson of Delta, Richard (Becky) Farnworth of Spanish Fork; 19 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great grandchildren (1 deceased), and 6 step. Electa is also survived by two brothers and one sister: Vern (Lois Gull, deceased) of Tooele, Duane (Loretta) of Payson, Holla Jane (Anton, deceased) Dowhanuik of Springville, and a sister-in-law, LeOra Taylor (Clarence, deceased).



She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Luther Brake, Bessie Brake Isbelle, Edith Taylor Baum, Clarence Taylor, Mark Taylor, Hannah Taylor, Merlene Taylor Beardall, Maryan Taylor Cain and Ralph Taylor.



Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 9, 2007 at 1 p.m. in the LDS Chapel at 1785 East 400 South in Springville. There will be a viewing held Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville and at the church on Saturday one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery.
