Ella Mae Lamb Sorensen, age 92, passed away May 1, 2026 at her home in Springville, Utah. She was born December 30, 1933 to Theone Lamb and Margaret Clement in Mesa, Arizona, the oldest of 9 children.

In 1952 she married Edwin (Ed) Ralph Sorensen in Ipswich, England where he was stationed during the Korean War. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Edwin and Ella Mae were married for 72 years, until his death on January 15, 2025.

Ella Mae grew up riding horses, milking cows and sewing dresses. After she and Ed welcomed five children, Ella Mae earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University and years later, her Masters in Early Childhood Education from Western Illinois University. Ella Mae enjoyed teaching Kindergarten, 1st grade and later in her career, teaching Elementary Education Students, Child Development at Utah Valley State College (now UVU).

Upon retirement, Ella Mae and Ed enjoyed serving two missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.The first as Family History missionaries in the Phoenix Arizona Mission, photographing historical records, and the second in Tokyo,Japan with the Church Education System’s Institute program.

Ella Mae is survived by her siblings; Joann Hathcock, Leonard Lamb (Edith), Sandra Brown. Four of her five children: Sherri Lyn Sorensen Cluff of Springville, UT, Wendy Jo Sorensen Rogers (Steve) of Springville, UT; Virginia Ann Sorensen Mitchell (Martin) of Salt Lake City, UT; Kevin Emanuel Sorensen (Sheryl) of Meridian, ID, daughter-in-law Lisa Kingery Sorensen of Orem, UT and 24 grandchildren and 61 great-grandchildren.

Ella Mae is preceded in death by her parents and six of her 9 siblings; Theone Lamb, Anton Lamb, Maurice Lamb, Carlene Wiltbank, Karen Lamb Rogers, and her son Ian Ralph Sorensen, who passed away in 2015.

The viewing for Ella Mae will be held on Wednesday, May 13 from 6-8pm at Wheeler Mortuary. Ella Mae will be laid to rest at Utah Veterans Cemetery and Memorial Park May 14th, 2026 A memorial service for family and close friends will be held at 2 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel located at 860 East 200 North Springville,Utah.
