Mary “Eloise” Harmer Long, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grand mother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2018.
She was born in Springville to Orval L. and Donna James Harmer on December 24, 1938. She was the oldest of 5 children. She married David Charles Long on December 21, 1955. She was lifelong resident of Springville. Throughout her life she worked several jobs while raising her children. She retired from Nature’s Sunshine in 1998. For the past 15 years she has worked as a Foster Grandparent at Cherry Creek Elementary. She looked forward to going to work every day, the children and teachers brought her such joy and happiness and they loved “Grandma Long” too.
She had a love for traveling that she inherited from her father. She always expressed she would have loved to see more of the world. Mom also loved going on her “Sunday Drives”, and spending time with family. She maintained close friendships with many of her childhood friends. They would regularly meet for lunch. Mom loved animals especially dogs and will be greatly missed by her faithful companion Shadow.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and held several positions throughout her life.
She is survived by her children, Marilyn Terry, Patricia Heiner, Michael Long, Cheryl (Andy) Pulley, and Teresa Long. She is also survived by her siblings, James (Karma) Harmer, Linda (Gary) Norman, Annette (Danny) Ellis. 15 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister Evelyn Vincent, her son David Long, and a grandson Adam Heiner.
Funeral services will be held at the Spring Creek 2nd Ward, 350 North 400 East in Springville on Friday, May 4, 2018 at 11:00 am. There will be a viewing from 10:00 until 10:45 am on Friday at the Church. A viewing will also be held Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville. Interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery.
