Eric Cottam Dalton, 81 of Mapleton, Utah, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2025. He was born September 23, 1943 in Seattle Washington to Gladen Gubler Dalton and Grace Cottam. He married Claudia Yvonne Nielsen on June 15, 1962 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Eric’s life has been centered around family and service. Throughout his life, he has built homes and chapels around the United States, as well as 3 chapels in England (in Hycombe, Burton upon Trent, and Helston in Cornwall). While in England, he also had the opportunity to work on the London Temple.
In his spare time, he enjoyed reading and writing. Eric has one published book called “Abraham’s Cave” which he was very happy about.
Eric was a good and wise husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved to make those around him smile and laugh. He is survived by his wife, Claudia; his daughters Shareen (Mark) Halliday and Coreli (Mark) Ordakowski; his son, Troy Dalton; a brother, Doug (Arlene) Dalton; 13 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren. Eric is preceded in death by sons Eric Jr and Jonathan, as well as his parents, Gladen and Grace.
An evening viewing for friends and family will be held Monday, June 16, 2025 from 6-8 p.m. at the Wheeler & Sundberg Funeral Homes Mapleton location, 82 West 400 North, Mapleton, Utah. A morning viewing for family and friends will be held Tuesday, June 17, 2025 from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the church building located at 825 Hawks Rest Drive, Mapleton Utah, prior to the funeral service that begins at 11:00 a.m.
