Evelyn Robins Thomsen

June 2, 1946 — September 23, 2023

Mapleton, UT

Our beloved mother, grandmother and sister, Evelyn Robins Thomsen, age 77, passed away on September 23, 2023, after a short battle with cancer.

Evelyn was born on June 2, 1946, in American Fork, Utah to Harold David Robins and Margaret Olena Gammon Robins. Evelyn spent her early childhood in the Pacific Northwest before moving back to Vineyard, Utah with her parents when she was in second grade. She attended schools in the Orem area and graduated from Orem High School. She attended Brigham Young University and earned a BS degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Library Science.

Evelyn married her eternal companion, Leo Arnold Thomsen, on November 22, 1968, in the Salt Lake Temple. Evelyn and Leo raised their five children in Mapleton. Evelyn has called Mapleton home for 52 years and has enjoyed her many wonderful friends and neighbors there.

Evelyn was a gifted teacher and taught special education at Grandview and Lakeview Elementary Schools in the Provo School District for many years. She appreciated the students, staff, and faculty that she worked with.

She served faithfully in many LDS church callings throughout her life. She taught in the Relief Society and Primary organizations for many years. She also served as a counselor and president of the Primary and Young Women organizations. She enjoyed serving as a secretary and counselor in several Relief Society presidencies. She was a dedicated ministering sister and visiting teacher. Evelyn has a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Evelyn was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her family. She loved being a grandma and spending time with her grandchildren. She tried to attend all of her grandchildren’s ball games, dance recitals, and school events.

She is survived by her children Valerie (Jason) Durrant, Teresa (Troy) Beebe, Dana (Josh) Chappell, Brian (Jenny) Thomsen, Jeffrey (Kellie) Thomsen, 21 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Glen (Elizabeth) Robins, Elaine (Dennis) Owen, and David (Debra) Robins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo, her parents, and a granddaughter.
