Faye Curtis Quarnberg, age 84, passed away peacefully at her home, on March 3rd surrounded by her loving family.
Faye was born on September 11, 1941, in Provo, Utah to Irwin Curtis and Ada Eva Stark Curtis. She attended elementary school in Mapleton and high school in Springville where she graduated in May 1959.
Owen and Faye were high school sweethearts and wanted to get married but because good jobs were hard to find, Owen enlisted in the Navy in July and went off to San Diego California for basic training. They were married on Oct 7, 1959, after Owen completed basic training, and sealed in the Manti Temple with their son Brad in January 1962.
They Spent the next eleven years in the Navy, leaving the service in August 1970 and returned to Utah to raise their family of five children. In January 1971, they moved into their new home in Mapleton, Utah where they were blessed with two more children. They were still living in the same home when Faye passed away.
Faye stayed at home with the kids but as they got older and her sons were preparing to serve missions, she worked at a care facility, then a dispatcher for the Utah County Sheriff's Department, and later as a US Forest Service Fire Center Manager for the Unita National Forest Fire Dispatch, receiving numerous awards along the way.
In her "spare time" Faye became an expert candy maker, and her candies were in high demand during the 30 years she made them. She was also an expert baker specializing in wedding cakes which she gladly made for family and friends.
Faye loved to play games with family and friends and would drop just about anything she was doing to play Quirkle, Yahtzee, Blitz or Nertz.
Faye loved the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings including Relief Society President, Primary and Young Women's and others Faye was preceded in death by both parents, her brothers Butch and Doug, and sisters Eva and Donna.
Faye is survived by her husband Owen, their son's Brad, Christian and Joshua, their daughter's Mindy, Robin, Michele and Amy, 29 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren.
A viewing for family and friends will be held on the evening of Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Wheeler-Sundberg Funeral Home, 211 East 200 South, Springville. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Mapleton Red Church, 1215 North 1000 West, Mapleton, Utah, with a viewing held that morning at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services. There will be a luncheon served for the family and out-of-town guests immediately following the funeral in the Cultural Hall at the church.
