Fred J Medved

January 5, 1927 — September 20, 2017

Our loving father, Fred John Medved left this world on September 20, 2017 to join his sweetheart.  He was born on January 5, 1927 to Jack and Mary Strakey Medved in Standardville, Utah.  Fred was the 8th of 10 children.  His family moved to Mapleton, UT in 1929.  They lived on 16 acres, each one had to work hard on the farm.
He married Marie Lewis and they were blessed with a son, Larry Arthur.  They were later divorced.
Fred served in Korea for 2 years as a “forward observer”.  He worked for Union Pacific for 5 years and then for Geneva for 35 years.  He was active in the JC’s for years.  He later married Elma Lucile “Peggy” Petersen June 4, 1962.  She brought 4 children to the marriage whom Fred adored as his own.  During their life together they traveled, golfed, fished, hunted and enjoyed their family greatly.
Fred is survived by his daughter, Lucile (Terry) Marchbanks and his son, Edgar (Christine) Kearley; son-in-law, Verl Brimhall; 15 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 76 great-great grandchildren, 2 great-great-great grandchildren; sisters: Colleen Snelson and Connie Dalton.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy; his parents, brothers: Jacob, Matt, Walter, Frank, Bill, Tony and his sister, Josephine; daughters: Sharon Brimhall, Carol Ann Fullmer; his son, Larry; 1 granddaughter, 1 great-granddaughter, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
As Fred’s family, we would like to thank all of Fred’s wonderful neighbors that have helped us watch out for him.  We would also like to thank the amazing staff at the Central Utah Veterans Center for the wonderful care they gave our father.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.  There will be a viewing held at Wheeler Mortuary, 82 East 400 North in Mapleton from 10:00 to 11:00 prior to the service.  Condolences may be sent at www.wheelermortuaries.com
