Fukan C Sorensen passed away peacefully at home on November 24, 2017. He was born April 1, 1924 in Monroe Utah to Christian M. and Netta Sorensen.
The early years of his life were spent in Sevier County where he attended elementary schools in Central and Annabelle Utah. He moved to Mapleton in 1936 and attended Springville Junior High and graduated from Springville High School. He spent his summers working with his 8 brothers and 3 sisters on their Mapleton Fruit Farm. In 1944 He served his country in the Maritime Service sailing in the South Pacific. In 1949 he served a Mission for the LDS church in the Northern States Mission laboring in Iowa and Illinois. After returning from his mission he met Dora Marie Semadeni and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on January 23, 1953.
He was a longtime employee of Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Company. After retirement he spent several years as an animal control officer for Springville City. Fukan enjoyed the outdoors and loved having a small farm. He especially enjoyed having his horses and was a member of the Hobble Creek Riding club.
Fukan served his Savior faithfully including Elders Quorum Presidencies and Bishoprics. He also served as a temple worker in the Provo and Provo City Center Temples spending most of his time in the baptistery.
He is survived by his wife, Dora Marie Sorensen, Springville, UT; his children, Neil (Pat) Sorensen, Spanish Fork, UT; Lydia (George) Hampton, Larkspur, CO; Dean (Joyce) Sorensen, Highland, UT: Diana Sorensen, Springville, UT: Lee Sorensen, Broomfield, CO. He also leaves behind 20 grandchildren and many great grandchildren who will miss him. Sisters, Christie (Doug) Atwood; Utahna (Charles) Summerhays; Brothers, Dolan (Cheryl) Sorensen; and Val (Peggy) Sorensen;
Fukan was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Mary Ann Sorensen; sister, Nancy Anderson; His brothers, Orrill Sorensen, RG Sorensen, Merrill Sorensen, Morris Sorensen, Melvin Sorensen and David Sorensen.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 2,2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Spring Creek LDS Chapel located at 235 East 550 North, Springville, UT. Family and friends may visit on Friday, December 1, from 6:00-8:00pm at Wheeler Mortuary located 211 East 200 South, Springville, UT and on Saturday Morning at the Spring Creek LDS Chapel from 10:00-10:45 prior to service. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
