Listen to Obituary

Glenda Lee Bringhurst, 77, of Mapleton, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Thursday, January 15, 2026. She was born July 19, 1948, in Spanish Fork, Utah, to Lewis and Mary Bleggi.

Glenda married her sweetheart, Larry David Bringhurst, on November 14, 1969, at the Art City Museum in Springville—one of the very first couples to be married there. They were later sealed in the Provo LDS Temple.

Glenda lived her entire life in Mapleton. She grew up riding horses with her lifelong friend, Toni. Mom always said the reason they made ditches was so she could get on her horse. She loved deer camp and sheep camp, trips to Fish Lake, family reunions, and—most of all—time with her family. She grew up surrounded by all her cousins, whom she loved dearly, in the part of Mapleton called “Bleggi-ville”. She learned hard work at an early age working on the farm, hauling hay, and picking fruit.

She was an incredible wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend—but above all, the most loving and devoted grandma and great-grandma. She never met a baby she didn’t smother in kisses. She never missed a baseball game, soccer game, tennis match, trap shoot, ultramarathon, stock show, dance recital, motorcycle race, or graduation. If one of her kids or grandkids had an event, she was there. Any opportunity to attend the Fiesta Days Rodeo, she was there. There were regular trips to Harts for a soda or treat with the nieces and nephews. She was always the favorite aunt, especially when they were in trouble. She was a safe refuge for all.

Glenda was extremely social and loved spending time with friends and family. A simple grocery store trip required at least an extra hour because she always ran into someone she knew—and talked to everyone. She was also the family (and neighborhood) video store, owning more movies than Blockbuster ever did.

She loved to travel. Some of her favorite trips included fishing at Flaming Gorge, boating and camping, Rockies and San Francisco Giants games, Spring Training, Hawaii, family cruises, and road trips with her kids. She treasured time at the family cabin in Strawberry Valley, where she taught all her grandkids how to play gin rummy.

Glenda loved crafting. Her favorites included tole painting, quilting, and more recently, DIY crafts from the Dollar Store. She loved her trips to the Dollar Store.

She was a lunch lady for Nebo School District and eventually a lunch manager for 24 years until she retired. The students and staff throughout the district adored her.

Mom loved her dahlias and flower garden, lovingly grown by her sweetheart Larry because of her deep love for flowers. This past summer, the family cherished time spent tending her garden and making sure she always had a fresh bouquet on her kitchen table.

Before her passing, several items were checked off her bucket list, including a first-class flight to San Francisco to watch a Giants game from a private suite—two of her favorite things: family and baseball. She also got to ride in a Corvette.

Glenda is survived by her husband, Larry Bringhurst; her four children—who are still arguing over who was her favorite—Christy Johnson, Heather (Ben) Corrales, Chad (Breanne) Bringhurst, and Tiffany (Brandon) Fry; her 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, who were her whole world; and her brother, Donnie (Heidi) Bleggi. She is also survived by her two beloved fur babies, Marley and Reggie, who will miss her dearly—and all the treats she gave them.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Mary Bleggi; her sister, Pat Flygare; her brother, John Bleggi; and her favorite furry friends, Woody and Cabo.

Per Glenda’s request, the viewing and funeral will be held for family and close friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville, Utah, with a viewing from 9:30–10:30 a.m. She requested that attendees wear purple (her favorite color) and/or casual clothing. Burial will follow at the Mapleton Cemetery.

Mom was diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukemia in June of last year and fought a valiant battle with a positive attitude that humbled us all. Go ring that cancer bell, Mama—and enjoy an ice-cold Pepsi Zero.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the doctors at LDS Hospital’s Loveland Clinic for Blood Cancer, and to the compassionate nurses at the Spanish Fork Hospital Infusion Center, who cared for her so tenderly until the end.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026 at Wheeler & Sundberg Funeral Homes, 211 East 200 South, Springville, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. before the services at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Mapleton City Cemetery.
