Gwen "Gwennie" Bartholomew Dedrickson, age 66, of Mapleton, Utah, unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday, June 5th, 2024. She was born in Spanish Fork, Utah, but raised in Springville to F. Wayne and Margaret Elizabeth Schoenstra Bartholomew on May 31, 1958. She married the love of her life Scott William Dedrickson on November 21, 1980, in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Gwen was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served willingly in many various callings throughout her life with an unwavering testimony. She always lived to many standards but especially strived to always be kind.
After 46 years of work, she looked forward to retirement, but her retirement was not as laid back as she had planned. Instead, it was filled with tending kids, sleepovers, various sporting events, dance recitals, drop everything to help her kids and grandkids, driving kids to school, short order cook, and party organizer. We know retirement wasn't what was planned but heck we know she had fun.
She was a devoted wife to her husband, a loving mother, a constant friend to her 6 kids and 5 bonus kids (her kids' spouses). But, most importantly she was the best Grandma, Granna, Granny, Gwenma, Grandma Gwennie, and Papa to her 13 grandkids. She enjoyed throwing the best annual Easter egg party and frequent BBQ's with yard games. She enjoyed baking, quilting, puzzling, gardening, watching America's Funniest Home Videos, and Dateline. She was an expert on weather and informative on all news happenings. But she spent most of her time on the phone with her kids who called several times a day to check in with Mom.
In addition to Gwennie's various hobbies, she also enjoyed camping, occasional traveling, basking in the sun, and telling the most phenomenal stories to everyone. Although she had many things to keep her busy, we always knew we could find her at the place she loved the most ....Home."
Gwennie's beautiful legacy leaves behind a loving husband, Scott of 43-1/2 years who will miss his best friend, wife and partner deeply. She is survived by her 6 children: Jake (Lindsy), Jill, Colton (Anna), Travis (Cydney), Matt (Camille), and Jessica (Cody); 11 granddaughters: Jaycee, Brooke, Abby, Kinsley, Kimber, Quinn, Kassidy, Kaycie, Jovie, Zenna, and Nina, and 2 outnumbered grandsons: Weston and Didrik; 2 sisters: Ann (Doug) and Ina (Charles) and 3 brothers: Bert (Deb), Lynn (Maxine), and Dale (Carole); 4 sisters-in-law: Jan (Harley), Julie (Ron), Jeni (Rich), and Annie (Kent) and brothers-in-law: Rick (Lorraine), Brad (Gina); and many nieces and nephews that she loved to watch grow up.
Our sweet Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Friend, and Life of the Party will be dearly missed. We don't like goodbyes, so we'll see ya at home Mom.
