Henry Rawle March 9, 1998 – February 24, 2026

Henry Rawle of Salt Lake City, Utah, was born to Torgunn Pettersen Rawle and Roger Rawle in Provo, Utah, on March 9, 1998. He was raised in Springville, Utah.

Henry, lovingly known as “Happy” — or “แฮปปี้” — had a gentle soul and a tender heart. His countenance often reflected warmth, kindness, and a quiet softness that drew people in. He felt things deeply. He cared deeply. There was something pure and sincere about the way he moved through the world. To know Henry was to love him.

Henry served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Thailand — an experience that deeply shaped him. Thailand became a second home to him. He was profoundly impacted by the culture, fascinated by the Thai language, and grew to love the people with his whole heart. After returning home, he remained closely connected to dear friends there, including Earn, whom Henry would call “little fox” เจ้าจิ้งจอก in Thai, and she him “bear” พี่หมี. The relationships he formed were lasting and meaningful. He was adored by many.

Henry worked as a Garden Curator, where he truly left his mark in beautiful spaces. He had an eye for quiet detail and a deep appreciation for living things. He cultivated beauty in the world, even when it was hard to find within himself. The environments he tended reflected the same care and gentleness he carried within himself.

Henry struggled profoundly with mental illness and emotional pain. Though he recently survived suicide attempts, he ultimately died by suicide on February 24, 2026. He was seeking help. He was surrounded by love. His death is a heartbreaking reminder that mental illness can be severe, relentless, and life-threatening.

He is survived by his mother, Torgunn; his siblings: Heidi Shinners (Mike) of Groveland, MA; Siri Place of Salt Lake City, UT; William Rawle of Provo, UT; Thomas Rawle (Melisa) of Springville, UT; Ingrid Rawle (Brigham Peacock) of Provo, UT; and Erik Rawle of Springville, UT. Henry is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews: Monica, Harrison, Theodore, Gordon, Fanny, and Moses.

He was predeceased by his father, Roger Rawle.

The viewing will be held at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E 200 S, Springville, UT 84663, on Monday, March 2, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at 11 a.m. at 878 W Center St., Springville, UT 84663. A viewing before the funeral services will be held at the church from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.

Interment will take place at Springville City Historic Cemetery, 400 S 200 W, Springville, UT 84663, immediately following the funeral services.

In place of flowers, if you feel moved to support our family with funeral expenses or to help us honor Henry, we’ve created a fundraiser (link below). Sharing memories of him also means so much to us.

In Henry’s memory, we encourage those who feel willing to complete the “Be There” Certificate, a free online course that teaches you how to recognize when someone may be struggling with their mental health, understand your role in supporting them, and help connect them to the care they deserve.

Just talking about mental health isn’t enough. We need the knowledge, skills, and confidence to step up and be there for one another.

Thank you for loving our Happy and for holding our family in your hearts.
