Jack Mathew Gauchay, age 66, son of Waylett Neilan Gauchay and Helen Dolores Maloney Gauchay, passed peacefully into the next life on Saturday, July 5, 2025. He is reunited with his parents, whom he greatly missed.
He was born in Rexburg, Idaho on January 9, 1959 and grew up in Dubois, Idaho.
He married Celia Maughan and they had one son. They later divorced.
He moved to Provo, Utah where he met and married Bonnie Wright. Together they raised 4 great kids. They have 6 grandchildren and one on the way.
Jack is a rascal. Always teasing. Sometimes his teasing needed interpreting so the kids wouldn’t think he was serious. His teasing and humor endeared him to family and to many coworkers and friends.
Jack was a hard worker in whatever job he held. He could fix pretty much anything with baling wire and duct tape. All kidding aside, he was really good at figuring things out. So many trips to Home Depot, Lowe’s and Auto Zone. So many YouTube videos.
Jack is a fighter. He battled through a myriad of illnesses from cancer to end stage renal disease. The last 6 months were especially hard on him and his body finally said enough is enough. Jack loves his kids and he is so proud of all of them. They all inherited his work ethic.
Jack is a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan. Thank you, Jerry Kramer.
“God, Family, Green Bay Packers”
Some memorable Jack quotes: “I thought I smelled something.” “What the hell are you doing?” “Shut the door”.
Jack is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. His last few months were filled with thoughts of the Savior.
Jack will be missed by his wife Bonnie, his son Travis, daughter Jessica Kimball (Jon), sons Brandon (Sara), Jeremy, and Jonathan (Gabby) and his grandchildren, Quenne Gauchay, Jasper Kimball (Kylie), Journey Kimball, Oliver Gauchay, Nolan Gauchay, Theodore Gauchay and soon to be born Benedict Joseph Gauchay.
He is also survived by his siblings Terri Sickles, Kent (Renae), Teresa Wellard, Paul (Penney), Melinda Lewis (Scott), and Tom (Julie) and many nieces and nephews.
