In Loving Memory of Janelle Black Marshall

Janelle Black Marshall, age 53, passed away unexpectedly on July 29, 2026. She was born on January 22, 1973, in Provo, Utah, to Emory Clifford Black and Janette Crowther Black. She now joins her beloved father, Cliff, who preceded her in death.

Janelle will be remembered for her quick wit, infectious sense of humor, and the ability to make every gathering more fun simply by being there. Nothing was ever boring with Janelle. She was as real as they come, never pretending to be anyone but herself, and those who loved her cherished that authenticity. She had a way of making people laugh when they needed it most, and her presence brought joy to every room she entered.

For many years, Janelle faced significant health challenges that would have discouraged most people. Yet she met those struggles with remarkable courage and determination. She was a true warrior. Despite her own pain and hardships, she continued to show up for the people she loved. Her strength was not found in the absence of suffering, but in the grace, resilience, and love with which she carried it.

Her greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted mother to Trent and Braiden Marshall, and being "Grandma" to Maddison Marshall was one of her greatest blessings. She loved deeply, laughed wholeheartedly, and treasured the moments spent with those closest to her.

Janelle is lovingly survived by her mother, Janette Crowther Black; her sons, Trent Marshall and Braiden Marshall; her cherished granddaughter, Maddison Marshall; her sisters, Julaine Hubenthal and Jennifer Glover; her nephews, Dominic Glover, Bryce Hubenthal, and Jaxon Glover; and her favorite (only) niece, Courtney Hubenthal. She also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Janelle's years of suffering have come to an end. We choose to remember her laughter, her honesty, her fierce love for her family, and the light she brought into our lives. Her legacy is one of perseverance, authenticity, and unconditional love.

As we celebrate her life, we hold close the promise found in scripture:

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7

Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever in our hearts.
