Listen to Obituary

Janet Irene Wimmer, 76, of West Mountain (Formerly of Springville) passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home Thursday, November 13, 2025, following a long illness. She was born to Wayne Worth Wimmer and Ivie Geniel Henningson on August 12, 1949, in Springville, Utah. She married David Devenish in January 1967. They later divorced.

Growing up on the east side of Springville. Janet had lots of friends, horses, wide open spaces, and many adventures every day. She attended local schools, and was active in sports, swimming and baseball. She attended high school in Springville until 1967, then graduated from Crocker High School in Crocker, Missouri. She returned home to Utah in 1969, where she had three children, Kory, Kelly and Kacey.

During her working years, she was an entrepreneur, owning several businesses including floral shops, a snow cone shack, and sold Home Interiors. She continued a career in sales in different venues including RC Willey, Sears, and time shares in Las Vegas Nevada, but found her true passion selling Harley Davidson motorcycles at Timp Harley. Being an avid rider, her work at Timp Harley was a perfect fit, where she formed many lifelong friendships.

In 2011 she married Paul Johnson (owner of Johnson Drilling), and they eventually made their home in West Mountain. This place was her truly happy place where she raised chickens, built her ‘She-Shed’, decorated, and was constantly in home-improvement and building mode.

When she retired in 2018, she retired her Harley and ordered a custom-made Vespa with a side car. She could be seen cruising around with Betty, her white lab pup. This was quite the spectacle in Payson, and she was often asked to pose for photographs. She landed a cameo appearance riding a Harley in the movie “Once I was a beehive”.

Janet is survived by her husband Paul Johnson of West Mountain, Utah; Her two children: Kelly (Jessica) Devenish of Mapleton, Utah; Kacey (Jason) Haymond of Elk Ridge, Utah: Seven grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and her sister Lynette (Kerry) Posey. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, brother and her son Kory Devenish.

Special thanks to Janet’s daughter Kacey, grand-daughter Elizabeth(Libby) Devenish Evans, and her niece Marci Crandall Johanson for all of their above and beyond hard work, love and care they gave to Janet.
