Jenny Rebecca Oman

April 19, 1974 — June 22, 2007

1974 - 2007

Jenny Rebecca Oman sadly passed away on June 22, 2007. Born April 19, 1974 to Lonnie Ray and Rixa Clyde Oman, she grew up in Springville and Mapleton, Utah. After graduating from Springville High, she attended BYU, completing a BA in English and an MA in International Relations. She served an LDS mission in the California Oakland Spanish-Speaking Mission. She was an international micro-enterprise consultant in DC and an outstanding, highly successful professional realtor in Utah when she died.

Jenny was an intelligent, beautiful, captivating, caring woman who would light up a room with her presence. Accomplished and talented, she excelled in everything she put her mind to.

She was a leader. In high school she was involved with musical performance, student government, clubs and activities. In fact, she was recognized by her graduating class as the most outstanding overall student in service because of her contributions to the school and community. She was also involved with student government at BYU.

Jenny was talented. She was the Springville Art Queen and a runner-up to Miss Springville. She performed around the world with various musical groups as a vocalist. She loved animals from the time she was tiny, especially horses, and excelled in English dressage and jumping.

Jenny was the favorite aunt, and made each child feel so special and loved because she never lost the ability to play like a child.

She was adventurous. From skydiving to rock climbing to scuba diving and traveling around the world, she craved new places and opportunities.

Her passion was helping and knowing other cultures and peoples. She did humanitarian aid projects in Venezuela and China, and lived in Jordan while studying and writing about the Bedouin tribes.

Jenny was a fighter. She struggled privately with many difficult challenges for years but tried to hide them to spare others from the pain. Thank you to the many family and friends who loved and adored her, who helped her and were there for her through the years of extremely hard trials. Although none of us could ever answer the question "why?" she understands now how much we all cared.

She is survived by her parents and siblings: Kerry (Dianne) Oman of Springville, Lora (Eric) Lund of Washington DC, Jay (Deborah) Oman of Stockton California, Spencer (Katie) Oman of Springville, and 7 beautiful nephews and nieces who adored her. She was preceded in death by her brother Dain.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wed., June 27, 2007 at the Mapleton 16th Ward, 1316 South Main in Mapleton, UT. A viewing will be held on Tues, June 26th at the Wheeler Mortuary, 82 West 400 North, Mapleton Utah from 6 - 8 p.m. and from 9:30-10-30 a.m. at the church prior to the services. Interment will be at the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
