Joseph “Jay” Wells Snow December 3, 2025

Joseph “Jay” Wells Snow, a lifelong resident of Mapleton, Utah, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.

Jay was born in Mapleton to Louis “Doc” Snow and Mary Snow. After graduating from high school, Jay proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was stationed in Hawaii. Following his military service, he returned home to Mapleton, where he married Karen Marie Migliaccio of Spanish Fork, Utah. Karen preceded him in death.

Jay was happiest outdoors and spent his life working the land he loved. He farmed potatoes, tomatoes, and sweet corn in Mapleton for more than 50 years. Farming was not just his livelihood but his legacy—he taught all of his children how to grow, harvest, and sell produce. Many in the community remember stopping by the Snow home to purchase fresh vegetables from the table out front, leaving payment in the mailbox, a simple and trusted tradition Jay was proud of.

An avid hunter, Jay treasured the time spent hunting deer and elk across Utah with his children and close friends. Some of his favorite stories came from those hunting trips, where lifelong friendships were formed and cherished. He also had a deep love for animals and always had horses, mules, or sheep to care for. Jay took great pride in his animals and the responsibility of caring for them.

Jay is survived by his nine children: Laura Snow of Salem, UT; David (Amy) Snow of Provo, UT; Johnny (Cindy) Snow of Mapleton, UT; Susan Snow of Salt Lake City, UT; Charlie (Bobbie) Snow of Sandy, UT; Sam (Jennifer) Snow of Evanston, WY; Mike (Stacey) Snow of Cambridge, NY; Josh Snow of Payson, UT; Ryan Snow of Mapleton, UT.

And his sister Dayna Barney

He is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Jay was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karen Marie Snow; his parents, Louis “Doc” Snow and Mary Snow; and his two younger sisters, Marylou Allman of Mapleton and Gloria Carlson of Spanish Fork.

Jay will be remembered for his hard work, his love of the outdoors, his devotion to family, and the quiet integrity with which he lived his life.

In accordance with Jay’s wishes, no viewing or funeral service will be held. The family appreciates the love and support shown during this time and invites friends and loved ones to remember Jay in their own way.
