Karen Miles Evans

Karen Miles Evans, 76, of Springville, Utah, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2026. She was born March 29, 1950, in Moscow, Idaho, to Raymond Castleton Miles and Mary Nye Miles.

Karen married Ben Everett Evans on November 26, 1980, in West Valley City, Utah. Three years later, they were sealed in the Jordan River Temple.

Karen dedicated her life to learning, education, and helping others. She attended Brigham Young University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree. Following graduation, she spent 25 years working for AARP while continuing her education and earning a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Utah.

Karen later returned to Brigham Young University, where her passion for learning ultimately led her to earn a doctorate in Educational Psychology. She then dedicated several years to working in the counseling department at BYU, where she mentored and guided students throughout their collegiate pursuits. Her commitment to education and her desire to help others made a lasting impact on the many students she worked with.

Karen was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served for many years as the ward librarian and later as the building coordinator.

Karen enjoyed traveling and discovering new places, reading a good book, and continuing to learn throughout her life. She especially enjoyed crossword puzzles, which reflected both her sharp mind and her love of a good challenge.

Karen is survived by her husband, Ben Everett Evans; her four stepchildren, Jeff (Nancyanne) Evans, Jennifer (Darren) Brunson, Paul (Kimberly) Evans, and Jeremy (Tiffany) Evans; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson.

An evening viewing for family and friends will be held Tuesday, August 25, 2026, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Wheeler & Sundberg Funeral Homes, 211 East 200 South, Springville, Utah 84663.

A morning viewing for family and friends will be held Wednesday, August 26, 2026, from 9:30–10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral service.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 950 South 1700 East, Springville, Utah 84663.
