Kim Julian Cherrington, age 75 of Mapleton, died in his home of a heart attack on September 21, 2025. Kim was born on July 12, 1950 in Salt Lake City Utah, to Robert and Effie Cherrington.

Kim's roots were on the iconic "tree streets" in the foothills of Provo. A 1968 graduate of Provo High School, he was a member of the ski team, a passion he continued by attending college in Cedar City and working as a ski instructor at Brian Head to earn his season pass. He married his true love, Pamela Grace Allan, on August 14, 1970. The couple settled in Springville for 43 years, enjoying life next door to Pam's siblings, before later moving to Mapleton to be closer to their two sons and their families. Kim began his lifelong career in road construction right after high school, dedicating the majority of it to Staker Paving, where he worked for 43 years. He proudly worked his way up from a paving crew member to an Operations Manager before his retirement in 2020.

For over 40 years, Pam and Kim cherished Lake Powell as their favorite escape. It was where Kim could unwind from his demanding construction career and where they both truly felt at home. They forged lifelong friendships on the water, sharing countless wonderful times with their boating community. Lake Powell provided a backdrop for creating treasured memories for both family and friends. In their later years, they explored the country in their beautiful motorhome, enjoying the diverse beauties of new destinations. Kim will be forever remembered for his unforgettable character, his amazing head of hair, his fish shirts, speaking fluently in pig latin to his grandkids and dogs, and a lifelong passion for the fancy cars that brought him so much joy. The greatest joy in his life was his “Beauty” Pam. Losing her three years ago was one of the most difficult things he ever faced, and we all find comfort knowing they are now reunited again.

Kim is survived by two sons: Brett (Lacey) Cherrington of Mapleton and Riley (Courtney) Cherrington of Mapleton; six grandchildren who were raised next door to Kim: Taylor, McKenna (Jake), Brinley, Jaida (JR), Gavin (Aspen), and Brooklyn and his two black poodles, Slater and Buddy. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Pam, and his parents Robert and Effie Cherrington.
