In Loving Memory of Kimberli “Idalis” Peterson Hatfield

Kimberli “Idalis” Peterson Hatfield, born on March 6, 1982, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of those whose lives she touched so deeply. Though her time with us was far too short, the impact she made will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, coworkers, and the many people whose lives she forever changed.

Kimberli was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Mary Jane Peterson; her grandparents, Marge and Roger Hutchings, and Kathryn and Wallace Peterson.

She leaves behind the love of her life, her devoted husband, Mike Hatfield; her cherished daughters, Kamber Lee Atkinson, age 21; Aspen McKenzi Hatfield, age 20; and MiKal Jane Hatfield, age 11; her loving father, David Peterson; her sister, Kerri Hancock (Bard); her brother, Russell Peterson(Darcy); along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, lifelong friends, and countless others who were blessed to know and love her.

Kimberli dedicated her career to serving adults with disabilities as a vocational trainer. She believed every person deserved the opportunity to grow, succeed, and experience the dignity that comes from meaningful work. Through patience, compassion, and unwavering encouragement, she helped others discover confidence in themselves and celebrated every accomplishment right alongside them. Her kindness was genuine, her heart was generous, and the difference she made in the lives of those she served will continue long after her passing.

To know Kimberli was to know strength. She faced life on her own terms, standing firmly for what she believed and never backing down from a challenge. She was fiercely independent, courageous, and determined—a woman who could not be told what to do by just anyone. The only exceptions were her parents, David and Mary Jane, whose guidance she accepted not out of obligation, but because of the profound love and respect she held for them. That quiet devotion spoke volumes about the values that shaped her life.

Away from work, Kimberli found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved sitting down with a crossword puzzle or a word search, happily spending hours challenging her mind. She cherished time outdoors, especially hunting trips with her father and brother, creating memories that she treasured throughout her life. Those moments in the mountains reflected her adventurous spirit and the close bond she shared with her family.

More than anything else, Kimberli loved being a wife and mother. Some of her happiest days were the simplest ones—packing up the girls for a trip to the splash pad, watching them laugh and play while making memories they will carry with them forever. Home was where her heart was.

The kitchen was often the heart of that home. Family dinners were among Kimberli’s greatest joys. Mike would be at the stove preparing the main meal while Kimberli worked beside him making the side dishes. Those evenings were filled with conversation, laughter, teasing, and love. It wasn’t just dinner—it was time spent together, building the memories that would become some of the family’s most treasured moments.

Kimberli also leaves behind one of the greatest love stories. Mike first saw Kimberli in the seventh grade and was instantly love-struck. From that moment on, there was never anyone else for him. While Mike knew immediately that she was someone special, Kimberli wasn’t quite convinced. True to her independent spirit, she wanted him to grow up first.

In 2003, Kimberli finally gave Mike her phone number, changing the course of both of their lives forever. One date was all it took. Mike knew he had found the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with, and before long he was already saving for an engagement ring.

Together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and three wonderful daughters who became the center of their world. Their marriage was built on friendship, trust, commitment, and unwavering devotion. Through every joy and every hardship, they stood beside one another. Mike never stopped loving the girl who first captured his heart in seventh grade, and Kimberli never stopped believing in the man he had become.

Kimberli had a remarkable ability to make people feel seen, heard, and valued. She offered encouragement when it was needed most, shared laughter freely, and gave of herself without expecting anything in return. Her warm smile, quick wit, and caring spirit drew people to her, and the friendships she built were marked by loyalty, honesty, and unconditional love.

Kimberli’s legacy is one of strength, compassion, determination, and unconditional love. She taught those around her the importance of standing up for what is right, believing in the potential of others, and living with authenticity and courage. She showed us that life’s greatest treasures are not found in possessions or accomplishments, but in time spent with family, in serving others, and in loving wholeheartedly.

Although her absence leaves an immeasurable void, the love she gave, the lives she changed, and the memories she created will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her daughters will forever carry her strength. Her family will forever cherish her laughter. Her friends will forever remember her loyalty and compassion. And Mike will forever hold close the love of the seventh-grade girl who captured his heart and remained the love of his life until her final breath.

Kimberli’s life reminds us that the greatest measure of a person is not found in the number of years they are given, but in the love they share and the lives they touch. She loved deeply, served selflessly, and leaves behind a family who will carry her strength, compassion, and love with them always.

Those who knew Kimberli will remember her not only for her strength and determination, but for the love she gave so freely—a love that will continue to live on in every life she touched.

She will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 970 North 400 East, Mapleton, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church before the services. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
