LaWanna Giles Gurr, 88, died October 13, 2010 at her home in Springville, Utah. She was born in Heber City, Utah to Orson Edwin Giles and Gladys Ethel Tadd Giles. She was the sixth of eight children. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
She married her sweetheart Eugene James Gurr in the Salt Lake City temple on December 7th 1943. They were a very loving couple and were inseparable in life until Eugene died 13 years ago. They will have a wonderful reunion.
If ever there were an angel on earth it would be LaWanna. She will be remembered for her loving, caring attitude. She never thought ill of anyone, always putting others needs ahead of her own. Doing all she could to help others and thinking of herself last. She expressed her love and concern and care for others until her last moments. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren held a very special place in her heart.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints serving in many different callings. In her later years she served as a Provo Temple worker.
She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Denison, son Gene (Kathy), all of Springville, Utah, 14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and sister-in-law, Lavon Hansen and brother-in-law, Austin Barney.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene, daughter Sue Ann, son-in-law, Darnell Denison, her parents and brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the Springville 1st Ward Chapel, 245 South 600 East, Springville, Utah. A viewing will be held 1hour prior to services.
Burial will take place at the Springville Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Wheeler Mortuary.
The family would like to thank Love Healthcare for the loving care given to their mother, grandmother and great-grandmother during the past year.
