Lois Ann Durfee

Lois Ann Durfee of Spanish Fork, UT passed away on Monday August 31, 2026. Lois was born in Salt Lake City on December 18, 1948, to Afton Walters Durfee and Fredrick Dee Durfee. Lois was the second of four children; Fred, Lois, Judy and Gordon. She spent her youth in southern California and was very active as a majorette, in church, and with other activities. She graduated from Gahr High School in Artesia, CA in 1967.

Lois was an avid seamstress and crafter, both for personal and charity purposes. She sought out ways to uplift others with her hobbies to brighten their days. As a mother of three young girls, she also served as an administrative assistant within the public schools during her early career. As her children grew up, her love of serving people carried into her professional life, and she attended California State University of San Marcos to achieve her Bachelors in Sociology with honors in 1998. She worked for the California Department of Child Protective Services for over a decade in their foster-adoption unit.

Throughout her life, Lois was an extremely active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in leadership positions supporting young women relief society, compassionate service, and as a temple worker for many years after retirement. She was quick to offer a hand, her time, and resources towards missionaries and individuals in need, and even animals. She was also a fruitful gardener and was generous with her canning bounties every season. Many were inspired and learned from her hands that were never idle and heart that was never closed towards others. Wherever she was found, and whatever she was up to, Lois was engaged in music and dance, and her curiosity included a long stint of square dancing.

Lois is survived by her brother Fred (Elma) Durfee and her three beloved daughters, Nancy (Fred)-Hendricks, Brenda Lawson and Jennifer Siler. Her cherished grandchildren are: Warren (Diana) Bridenthal, Breeanna (Travis) Bridenthal, and Tyler Winders, Katie Winders, Jacob Winders and Brent Winders. Great grandchildren treasured by her are Cali, Logan, Ava, Colter and Everly. She also deeply loved her numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her sister Judy, brother Gordon, and her parents.

SERVICE Details:

Viewing will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026 from 6-8pm.  Location: Wheeler Mortuary, 221 E 200 S, Springville, UT 84663

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 4th at 1:00 pm, preceded by a viewing at 11:30am - 12:30pm.  Location: Sunset LDS Ward Building, 99 N 920 W, Spanish Fork, UT 84660

Her final interment is at American Fork City Cemetery, 26 West 600 North, American Fork.
