Maralene Tobler Terry was born on February 12, 1933, in Washington, Utah, to Archie and Itha Tobler. She grew up in a close-knit family and always felt deeply loved by her parents and siblings, a foundation that shaped her life and relationships.
During her high school years, Maralene caught the eye of a young man from Beaver, Utah—Don Andrew Terry. Their relationship grew through years of heartfelt letters and occasional visits. On May 7, 1953, Maralene and Don were sealed for time and all eternity in the St. George Temple, beginning a lifelong partnership rooted in love and faith.
Maralene was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She believed her life was richly blessed through the many opportunities she had to serve others. One of her greatest joys and proudest achievements was her family and vast posterity.
Together, Maralene and Don raised a large and loving family:
JaLynn and Grant Coombs of Spanish Fork, Utah;
Steven and Patricia Terry of Springville, Utah;
David and Debra Terry of Cedar City, Utah;
Kevin and Tamera Terry of Brigham City, Utah;
Mark and Annette Terry of Spanish Fork, Utah;
Cheryl and David Ellis of Vernal, Utah;
Janet and Eric Thompson of Vernal, Utah;
Eric and Cori Terry of Mapleton, Utah;
Infant daughter Marcie
and Kyle and Kathy Terry of Mapleton, Utah
Maralene and Don were further blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren, each one cherished and loved.
Maralene’s home was a place of warmth and welcome, filled with love, hugs, delicious food, music, sewing, gardening, quilting, and laughter. She had a gift for making others feel valued and at home.
Maralene and Don loved time and activities with their large family, especially outdoors where God’s handiwork could be admired. This included picnics up the canyon, camping, fishing, hunting, BBQs in the backyard, and drives through the mountains as we watch the seasons change.
Maralene Terry—beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother —will be deeply loved and dearly missed by all who knew her.
Maralene is survived by her siblings: Bonita (Junius) Bennion, Darwin (Sandra) Tobler, Merlin (Gayle) Tobler, Michael (Karen) Tobler.
Maralene is preceded in death by her parents; and brothers: Leon and Richard, her sister Sharlene Gordon just 5 days prior, and two granddaughters Michelle Rodeback (Coombs) and Heather Taylor (Thompson). She is also proceeded in death, by infant daughter Marcie, son-in-law David Ellis, son Mark Terry and her eternal companion Don Andrew Terry. Their reunion in heaven is a joyous one.
