Marilyn Rachel Snow Barney, March 26, 1944 – November 7, 2025
Our beloved Marilyn Rachel Snow Barney, affectionately known as Ma to many, but as “mommy” to her baby Julie Ann, returned home to Heaven on November 7, 2025, at the age of 81. She passed peacefully after a courageous journey with heart disease.
Born on March 26, 1944, in Springville, Utah, to Julina Harris Snow and Alton Snow, Marilyn’s life was a beautiful tapestry of love, laughter, and devotion. She was joyfully reunited on the other side with her husband and soulmate, Terry Barney (August 1, 2025); her beloved daughter, Lisa Marie (August 3, 2024); her grandson, Tony Craig (2010); her parents; and three cherished siblings.
Marilyn’s heart was her family. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she built her life around those she loved most. Every holiday, every trip, every gathering was touched by her warmth and joy. Her home radiated love, especially at Christmastime, when she and Terry created pure magic for their five children.
She also found deep peace in her garden, where her hands and heart worked in harmony with the earth. Marilyn had a true green thumb, her yard was always bursting with color and life, filled with the most beautiful flowers that mirrored her own gentle, radiant spirit. She nurtured her plants with the same care she gave her family, creating beauty that bloomed all around her. Her daughter Kristine lovingly carries on this gift, tending her own garden with the same joy and devotion that her mom instilled in her.
In the final year of her life, Ma was lovingly cared for each day by her devoted son Brad and daughter-in-law Janette, whose tender attention brought her comfort and peace. She also cherished her frequent calls and visits with her son Craig and daughter in law Doreen, which always lifted her spirits and filled her days with love.
Her nurturing nature shone through her soulful stories, contagious laughter, and the quiet way she made everyone feel seen and loved. She carried deep pride in being a Springville Red Devil and treasured her lifelong friendships, whose steadfast love and companionship graced Marilyn’s final years.
In her later life, Marilyn found daily joy in her sweet puppies; Bella, Mia, and Honey, her little shadows who followed her everywhere. She left this world with joyful anticipation of meeting her two newest great-grandsons, born just a day before she departed.
Though her presence will be missed beyond words, we find peace knowing her spirit is free, reunited with those she loves, and shining through the laughter of her grandchildren, the stories we tell, and the gardens she inspired us to grow.
Marilyn is survived by four of her cherished children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Children: Craig Barney, and wife Doreen and their children Tony Barney & Tanisha Arellano (twin boys Tony & Edward, born November 6, 2025) of Henderson, NV; Bradley Barney, and wife Janette and their children & grandchildren: Erica Barney (daughter Brixxton) - Stephanie Faulkner - Jordyn Wiggerman (childrenRyker, Addie, and Ollie) - Hailee McCandless (children Brae, Gabe, Dhegann, andKaya), of Elk Ridge, UT; Kristine Barney, and husband Delano Sturgeon and son Nik Barney, of Jean,NV; Julie Ann LaPointe, and husband David LaPointe and their children: Emily (daughter Paisley Ann) - Britney - Tiffany - Ava, of Broad Brook, CT;and William Gourdin, fiancé of Lisa.
