Marion Witney Tippetts

September 9, 1921 — July 19, 2007

Marion Witney Tippetts passed away July 19, 2007. She was born in Plano, Idaho on September 9, 1921 to Daniel and Hariett Bringhurst Witney.



The family moved to Springville, Utah a few years later and she grew up in the house where the Springville Art Museum now stands. She was the fourth of 5 children and is survived by two sisters Ruth Sumsion and Melba Rasmussen.



Marion excelled in sports and was active in Track and Basketball at both Springville High and BYU.

In 1946 she met and fell in love with Joseph Eli Tippetts. They married on August 2 of that year in the Logan Temple and have been happily married for 60 years.



Marion worked most of her married life as a Nurse's Aid in several Utah Valley hospitals and clinics but found her greatest joy in raising her five children: Ruth (Dennis) Packard of San Jose, CA, Lynette (Bill) LeRoy of Springville, UT, Robert Eli (Sharon) Tippetts of South Jordan, UT, Jean (Joe) Bonnett of Springville, UT, and Gary Witney(Jeanette) Tippetts of Gilbert, AZ. Her posterity also includes 20 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.



She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. She and Eli also served a mission to Tarawa.



She is survived by her husband, all of her children and their spouses as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.



A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary located at 211 East 200 South in Springville, Utah. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 23, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Springville Fourth Ward church located at 996 West Center Street in Springville, Utah with a public viewing for family and friends one hour prior to the service. Interment, Evergreen Cemetery, Springville, Utah.
