Mary Louise Whitesides Davis

1933-2024

Mary Louise Whitesides Davis, 91, of Springville, Utah passed away on April 24, 2024 and is reunited with her husband K, her daughter Nancy, and many other beloved relatives. Mary was born March 21, 1933 in Clearfield, Utah to Stilson Adams Whitesides and Mary Louise Duncan Whitesides, the third of four children. Her family moved from Utah to northern California when she was young.  A few years later, they settled in the Los Angeles area, where she gained her education, married, and began raising a family. In 1970, they relocated to Arvada, Colorado, where she worked as a bookkeeper in the construction industry and also for Public Service Company in Denver. She and her husband K later retired to Santa Clara, Utah and then to Springville in 2002.

As a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all her life, Mary served in various organizations and supported her family in many activities and adventures. Her quiet acts of service were constant and without fanfare. Mary’s nature was one of genteel intelligence coupled with an amazing work ethic. Gardening was a passion that resulted in beautiful yards wherever she lived. Her influence brought about order and propriety, even while raising four boys. Afternoons at their home were often filled with the sound of her playing “Moonlight Sonata” or “Clair de Lune” on the piano. When the children were raised, she put white carpet in the house-- just because she could.

Mary married K Rene Davis in the Salt Lake Temple on August 27, 1951. The had sixty-one years of happiness together until K’s passing in 2012. They have anxiously anticipated being together again. They had six children: Robert (Teri) Spring Valley, CA; David (Mandy) San Tan Valley, AZ; Bradley (Susan) West Jordan, UT; Nancy (deceased); Sandy in Springville, UT; and Steven (Glenda) Riverton, UT. They have ten grandchildren and twenty-nine great-grandchildren.

Her sons are grateful to their sister Sandy for the outstanding care she gave Mom and Dad over the last twenty-two years. Her consistent service has added greatly to their quality of life.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 6 at 11:00 AM at the Hunter Valley chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 950 South 1700 East in Springville, Utah.
