Melva (Rodeback) Steele

August 16, 1917 — April 2, 2018

Melva Rodeback Steele, age 100, blessed heaven with her presence on April 2, 2018. Melva was born on August 16, 1917 to Edmund & Vilate Rodeback in Lindon, Utah. Her life was filled with many wonderful adventures, stories and memories that a simple paragraph just wouldn’t do her life justice. She was a hardworking, loving, caring, funny, and at times a spunky woman that to know her meant you loved her.

Melva met her husband William (Bill) Henry Steele (quite by accident- another wonderfully funny story) and were married in Provo, Utah on September 11, 1937; later solemnized in the Manti Temple on January 24, 1970. They lived many happy years together in their home in Springville, Utah where side by side worked together, loved, shared and served many in their community.

Melva was a fantastic baker and tried many times to teach her methods to her Grandchildren, to which none could get it “just like Grandma’s”. She served in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where many people fell in love with the “Neighborhood Grandma”. She always had treats and toys for any kid who would visit. Melva loved working with her flowers and her vegetable garden; many great meals came from her very own garden.  Her crocheting is absolutely beautiful and gave her joy to see each piece completed. When she wasn’t working hard with her hands, she loved to travel.  She went to many different countries, where learning new things, cultures and meeting new people was always a good time.

Melva was preceded to heaven by her parents, her husband, three children (Robert Steele, JoAnn Steele and Vonda Wilkinson), her siblings: Elda, Edna, Afton, Melba (her twin), Orvin, Lorenzo, Verma, Rulan and Merlin, granddaughters Paula and Mary Wilkinson and grandson Brian Wilkinson.  She is survived by her daughter Bonnie K (Jerry) Argyle of Duchesne, Utah; sister Reva Robinson of Cedar City, Utah; 13 Grandchildren; 21 Great-Grandchildren; 7 Great-Great-Grandchildren.

Our family would like to thank Hearthstone Manor Care Center for the wonderful and caring service they had shown Melva these past six years.

Funeral Services will be held at Wheeler Mortuary (211 E 200 S, Springville, Utah) at 11:00am on Saturday, April 7, 2018, a viewing will be held prior to service at 10:00am. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville, Utah.
