Listen to Obituary

Michael Stanley Ewing age 45 of Springville, Utah left this earth many years too soon on July 14, 2025 when he passed away in Springville. He was born in Payson, Utah on June 21, 1980, to Michael Kay Ewing and Sharon Rose Ewing. He was welcomed by his sister, Kimberly Michele Ewing and brother, Daniel Kay Ewing. Two years later Michael became a big brother when James Bernell Ewing joined the family. He married Stephanie Bills and they had five amazing children: beautiful twin girls, Bailey Ann Ewing and Taylor Rose Ewing, daughter and sidekick, Samantha Michele Ewing, his son and life time best friend Boston Michael Ewing, and his sweet baby girl Marley Marie Ewing. Michael and Stephanie were later divorced. He then married the love of his life and his eternal companion, Alaina Asay and became a father to five more amazing children who he loved as his own: Jalon Miyasaki (like his own son and best friend), Mikayla Miyasaki, Hana Miyasaki, Brenna Miyasaki and Jax Miyasaki. One of his most recent cherished titles was that of “Papa” to his grandchildren: his princess Kwincee Miyasaki, Grandsons Makoa Miyasaki and Kampbell Miyasaki, and other grandson on the way, they brought him so much joy.

Michael (who almost everyone besides his mom knew as Mike) loved life. He graduated from Springville High School, and was a proud Red Devil Alumni. Some of his happiest times were found when he was known as Coach Ewing. He loved “his boys” of the Springville football and baseball teams, and they loved him. Now, as adults, they often sought him out and were some of his dearest friends.

He attended Western Governors University and planned to become a high school teacher. His road took an unexpected turn when he chose a career as a graphic designer, working along side his parents and brothers in the family business, Copies Plus Printing in Springville. Local and statewide customers have benefited from his talented eye for personalized perfection in the printed projects he created. Whether he was working on a graduation yard sign, wedding announcements, business cards or a complex project for a corporation or organization, his skills were unmatched and many people have benefited from his dedicated service.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, hiking, and snowmobiling with his family. The annual winter trips to Yellowstone and Island Park, Idaho with his Ewing family were a highlight of almost every year of his life. Strong family bonds were created while they were enjoying God’s creations in one of the most beautiful places on earth. Fishing trips up Hobble Creek Canyon or to Utah Lake or Strawberry were times he enjoyed in his childhood and throughout his life. He and Alaina enjoyed going to concerts, fishing trips and making memories in Hawaii. He was a gentle soul and saw the beauty in everything around him.

One thing most people, other than family might not know about Mike, is that he loved poetry. He was an accomplished writer and his family members cherish the gifts of personal poems he has given through the years. He had a talent for taking thoughts and emotions and placing them on a blank page of paper, creating masterpieces his family will now treasure even more.

Mike loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ and was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His favorite callings include teaching any age group and working in the Young Men’s program. He loved American History, Church History and studying the Scriptures. He wasn’t perfect but was striving to become the man Heavenly Father wanted him to be. Life wasn’t always easy for him, but he had a testimony of the Atonement of our Savior, Jesus Christ. He was striving to really KNOW his Savior personally. Now he will have that blessed opportunity in a more tangible way.

Mike is survived by his parents, Mike and Sharon Ewing of Springville, his wife, Alaina of Springville and his 10 children, Bailey Ewing serving in the US Army in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Taylor Ewing of Bellingham, Washington, Samantha Ewing serving in the US Navy in Port San Diego, California, Boston Ewing of Vernal, Utah and Marley Ewing of Vernal, Utah. Jalon (Jesika) Miyasaki of San Antonio, TX along with his grandchildren, Kwincee, Makoa, Kampbell Miyasaki, Mikayla Miyasaki of South Jordan, UT, Hana (Ben) Talbot of South Jordan, UT, Brenna and Jax Miyasaki of Springville, UT.

His absence leaves a huge void in the lives of the countless people who know and love him. His greatest wish in this life was to love and be loved by his family. He was so good at reaching out to others who were in need. He would be happy if each person reading this will reach out to mend a relationship and offer comfort to someone who is in need.
