Nelda Ashcraft Bird

Nelda Ashcraft Bird, age 91, passed away July 20, 2025.

She was born November 4, 1933 in Springville, Utah to Lloyd J. and Helen Manwaring Ashcraft.

She married Vaughn W. Behrmann in August 1952. They raised two sons Ronald E. and James L Behrmann. They later divorced in 1981.

She married Elmer W. Bird Jr. in June 1989. He passed away April 16, 1994. Their years together were very special.

She was educated at schools in Springville and attended classes at UVSC.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Sunday School, Primary, Mutual and Relief Society organizations.

She worked at J.C. Penny Co. Provo for 9 years as Office and Personnel Supervisor and retired from First Security Bank in Springville after 20 years as Financial Services Representative.

She enjoyed all sporting events, camping with family and friends and especially travelling. She traveled extensively, visiting 60 foreign countries as well as 45 of the US states.

She is survived by two sons, Ron (Trish) Behrmann of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Jim (Heather) Behrmann of Toms River, New Jersey. Also, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. One sister, Marilyn (Bob) Mayer and one brother Don Ashcraft.

There will be a private visitation on July 25, 2025 followed by a memorial service at Wheeler & Sundberg Funeral Home, in Springville.

Interment will be at the Springville City Historic cemetery.
