Nina Mae Reid

Nina Reid, 92, passed away in Provo, Utah on April 1, 2026. Nina was born in Escalante, Utah on July 7, 1933 to Lillie May Moosman and Royal Barney. She was the tenth child born into a family of 14 in which 12 survived into their adulthood. Her older siblings are Royal Jr., Juanita, Wallace Arnold, Lynn J., Evelyn, Lendon Kay, Fern L., Cherril Dee, Wendell Howard; younger siblings are Jean LaRae, Carla Dean, Clair and Terry.

She spent the first half of her childhood in Escalante. Their family moved to Benjamin, Utah, then later to Vineyard (Orem), Utah, and next moved to Springville, Utah. She attended Springville High School where she was a cheerleader and good student. Nina fell in love with a handsome high school football and basketball player, Omer Arthur Reid. She attended BYU for a short period. Nina and Art were married July 25, 1952 in the Manti Temple. They have three children. Terry (Maureen Snelson), Springville; Kim Reid, Roberts, Montana; and Wendy (Dave) Hill, Springville.

Nina worked for Utah County for the Assessor’s office, as the Commission Secretary and retired after 28 years of service as the elected Utah County Recorder. Nina was known for her leadership roles at work. She was also known for her gregarious nature, sense of humor and befriending nearly everyone she came in contact with. She enjoyed raising a family, camping and world travel, as well has having many fun experiences with life-long friends. Nina also liked golfing and playing cards with her family and friends throughout the years.

She was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her husband, three children, five grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 18 great great grandchildren dearly.

Nina was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities. After retirement, she and Art served an LDS mission in St. George, Utah at the Temple Visitor Center, Pine Valley Church, Jacob Hamblin Home and the Brigham Young Home. They also enjoyed their calling to serve at the Provo City Center temple visitor’s center.

Nina is survived by all of their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, as well as her sister Jean (Ron) Brown. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Art, her parents, the remainder of her siblings.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 6, 2026, at 11 a.m. in the Spring Creek Stake Center located at 760 N 400 E, Springville, Utah. There will be a viewing for friends and family at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E 200 S, Springville, Utah, Sunday, April 5, 2026 from 6-8 p.m. and on Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
