Norley Hall passed away on January 22, 2018. He was born August 10, 1925 in Milford, Utah to Jasper Lanning Hall and Caroline Ferguson Hall. He attended school in Lake Shore, Spanish Fork and graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1943. Shortly after graduating, he enlisted in the military in 1943, during World War II, serving in the Merchant Marines. While on a short leave, he married Elaine Pinegar in the Salt Lake Temple on March 10,1944. Then finished his service being honorably released in late 1945.
As a young man he loved hunting. He always had a good hunting dog.
He began working at Geneva Steel Company in 1948. While working there, he completed his education and graduated from Utah Technical College. He served as the Vice President of the Union and as the Grievance man for several years. He retired from Geneva in 1986 after 38 years.
After retirement, he took up boating and spent many years boating and teaching young people to water ski and helping scouts to earn their merit badges. One of his favorite places to be was Lake Powell.
He served as a counselor and Bishop in the Springville 8th ward. He and Elaine served two family history missions in the St. George Family History Center where he was the Director of the center. After their release, they served another seven years in the Provo Utah Temple.
He was always an avid checkers player and in his later years, he spent many hours playing on¬line checkers with people all over the world, and working on family history.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Phyllis Shepherd and his daughter-in-law, Becky Hall.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine, and children, Mary Lynnette Webb (Merrill), Gregory Norley, Lorin Pinegar, Kevin Dale (Barbara), Allen Lanning (Mary Kathryn), his brother, Bert Hall, 20 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 29, 2018 at 11:00 am with a viewing prior at 9:45-10:45 am in the Springville 9th ward chapel at 878 West Center Street, Springville.
