Owen Driggs Christensen

July 7, 1920 — June 7, 2007

Owen Driggs Christensen, prominent Provo businessman, loving and devoted father, husband and wonderful friend and neighbor, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2007.

Dad was born on July 7, 1920 in American Fork, Utah to Bernard Niels Christensen and Maude Rosalie Driggs Christensen. He graduated from American Fork High School and attended B.Y.U. He served in the Western States Mission. Following his mission, dad met and married Marrian Guymon on December 15, 1943 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Dad founded Christensen Oil Company and Crest Distributing Company and took his two sons and one son-in-law as partners.

Our dad will always be remembered for his example of hard work. His motto was "Stay Out Of Debt". We have wonderful memories of ice skating, trips to California and Lake Powell, gathering wood, and B.Y.U. sports. Thanks, Dad!

Dad was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many church positions and at the time of his death was a High Priest in the Springville 1st Ward. Dad testified of the reality and goodness of our Heavenly Father. Dad walked tall until the very end.

Survivors include his wife, Marrian Guymon Christensen; daughters: Joan (Philip) Huff, Tyra (Bruce) Barrett; sons: Todd (Linda) Christensen, Kurt (Kelly) Christensen; 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers and sisters: Clair B. Christensen, Maurine Barker, Paul D. Christensen and Kathryn Horne.

The family would like to express special thanks to Comfort Care Hospice and especially Jim, Holly, Amber and Dr. Canfield.

At Dad's request, there will be no formal viewing. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 9, 2007 at 1 p.m. in the Springville Stake Center at 245 S. 600 E. in Springville.
