Springville, Utah

Listen to Obituary

Our sweet and cherished Dad, Phil Ray Edmunds, 83, passed away peacefully at his home in Springville, Utah on December 22, 2025 after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Phil was born on September 6, 1942, to Fred James Edmunds and Edna Madsen Edmunds at his Grandma and Grandpa Edmunds’ house in Spring City, Utah. He was raised in Fountain Green, Utah where he helped his family take care of their animals, haul hay, and herd sheep with his Dad. He attended schools in Fountain Green and Mt. Pleasant, Utah. He was also a prankster who may or may not have gotten into a little trouble with his friends.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1962 and served at Fort Stewart, Georgia as a mechanic in the 169th Engineer Battalion in the 3rd Infantry Division until 1964.

He married Sandra Rosquist in 1964 and together they had two children, Alan Troy and Teresa Ann. They were later divorced.

Phil worked for over 40 years as a truck driver and went by the C.B. Radio handle “Hermit”. He drove through 48 states and parts of Canada. He also worked locally hauling gasoline and then later, rock, sand, gravel, and asphalt. He drove well over 4 million miles without an accident. He was a hard worker and a great example.

Phil met his eternal sweetheart, Pauline Madsen, on a blind date. They were married on December 29, 1973 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Utah Temple on November 2, 1985. Together they had two children, Terri Lee and Shawn Phil. She preceded him in death on December 30, 2021.

He had many hobbies including jewelry making/silversmithing, woodcarving, gold panning, Dutch oven cooking (which was a hit at family get-togethers), and leather working. He had a fun personality, quick wit, and a great sense of humor. He loved to joke around and tease everybody. He liked spending time with his family, maple nut ice cream, classic country music and watching westerns and rodeos on TV.

Phil was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints holding the office of High Priest and serving in various callings. We are heartbroken and will miss him dearly, but we take comfort in knowing that he is no longer in pain and has been reunited with his wife, parents, daughter, and other loved ones who went before him. This isn’t a goodbye, but a “see you later.”

He is survived by his children Alan (Teri), Terri and Shawn; grandchildren Kallie and Brevik Edmunds; brother Jeff (Carol) and his sister Eva (Ken) Olsen.

He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Pauline; and brothers: Brent, Tony, Clair “Cass”, Jon, and Kevin.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no viewing or funeral. Graveside services will be held at the Springville Historic Cemetery (400 South 200 West) on Monday, December 29, 2025 at 11:00 am. A luncheon will follow the services at the Kolob 2nd Ward Church (840 South 400 East) in Springville.
