Listen to Obituary

Rodger Leroy Fulwider passed away peacefully surrounded by his family early Saturday morning on September 13, 2025, at age 84.

Rodger was born on July 6, 1941 in Monrovia, California to Leroy Fulwider, and Margaret Kathryn Smith Coad. He was their first and only child, as Leroy passed away 4 years later.

His childhood was difficult, and not something he would talk about often. He looked forward to being able to create a different home life for his future wife and children. He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints when he was 21, along with his mother and 3 siblings.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1963-1967 during the Vietnam War. He attended Brigham Young University after serving in the Air Force, and slowly completed a degree in Industrial Design and worked mostly as a Mechanical and Design Engineer.

In 1973 he met Terry Redfield at the mechanic shop where she dropped off her car for repairs. Over time a friendship developed, and then a relationship. They were married in July of 1974, just 4 days before his 33rd birthday. They moved into a small home in Springville after their marriage, and never left. He adored Terry, and he loved the home, life and family they built.

Rodger and Terry went on to have 4 children. He worked long hours to let Terry be at home with the children, and sacrificed a lot of his wants to be able to provide things he felt were important. His greatest joy was watching his children succeed. He expected a high level of effort in everything his children did, and he especially loved their musical accomplishments.

He worked as a Mechanical Designer throughout his career. He loved motorcycles, and dirt bikes. He loved sharing that love of motorcycles with his children, and grandchildren.

Rodger’s four children went on to have 19 grandchildren. Many of Rodger’s traits and strengths are evident in his grandchildren. The grandchildren loved Papa not just because he had the coolest toys, including the infamous potato cannon, but because of the love they felt in Grandma and Papa’s home. They also share his love of dogs.

Rodger was preceded in death by his father Leroy Fulwider, his mother Margaret Kathryn, and brother Paul Rieth.

He is survived by his wife Terry Redfield Fulwider, sister Jacque Jiacoletti (Raymond), brother Michael Rieth, sister-in-law (Arlene Rieth), his 4 children: Nicole Macias (Robert), Derek Fulwider (Pamela), Miles Fulwider (Natalie), and Gavin Fulwider (Melani) and 19 grandchildren. Papa, we love you and will miss you. Thanks for always setting the example for the type of people you wanted us to be.
