Roy Von Sheppard

February 15, 1949 — August 8, 2024

Mapleton

Roy Von Sheppard, 75, of Mapleton passed away August 8, 2024. He was born February 15, 1949 in Provo, Utah to Rex and Sylvia Sheppard. He passed away unexpectedly on August 8, 2024, of a heart attack, surrounded by his loving family.

Roy married his sweetheart Marlene Hansen on September 21, 1968. They were later sealed in the Provo, Utah Temple on June 9, 1992. Theirs is an epic love story. They started dating in Jr. High school and have been inseparable ever since. They moved to Salt Lake City as newlyweds, before moving to Spanish Fork to be closer to family. They then moved to Mapleton to take care of the Hansen’s home and build their own home where they have created a beautiful life. Roy was trained in instrument repair as well as autobody work and began working as a mechanic. He worked with construction companies in Utah County, Thorns, Sumsions, W.W. Clyde, Hecketts, Western Quality Concrete, and retired from Geneva Rock.

He loved restoring old cars and boats, he did several beautiful projects. He excelled at taking something with potential, envisioning a plan, and seeing it through to a masterpiece. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and anything that included his family. He loved to golf and enjoyed his time in retirement at the Hobble Creek Golf Course. His friends and coworkers at the golf course were a treasure to him.

Roy’s greatest legacy is his family. He and Marlene have three children, Brandi, Melani, and Jay R. Their family has grown to include his children’s spouses, 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Roy supported his kids in any way he could, he was a coach, a mentor and the best cheerleader ever. Roy and Marlene were always up for a road trip, they liked to go for a drive and see the adventure they could find. They enjoyed traveling with their kids and their families. Some of his favorite time was spent camping or boating with the kids, he was passionate about anything they could do together to create memories. He taught us to work hard and play hard. Roy was a French fry connoisseur and enjoyed the challenge of making the perfect fry. He would always welcome you into their home with a meal or a treat. Roy was a wealth of knowledge and was always the first call for any of the kids when we had a problem or needed something fixed, Roy always had the answers, and if he didn’t, he would figure it out! Roy was always up for a project with Marlene, whether it was in the house or in the yard, they created a sanctuary for their family.

Roy is survived by his loving wife, Marlene, and his three children Brandi (Brett) Muhlestein of Heber, Melani (Brady) Clark of Herriman, and Jay (Larra) Sheppard of Springville. His grandchildren Kiara (Boone) Kummer, Bailey (Jake) Milne, Kati (Taylor) Dunn, Cole (Sydnie) Clark, Kami Muhlestein, Zack Muhlestein, Tysen Clark, Trevin Sheppard, Teagan Sheppard, Emmery Clark, and great grandchildren Maycee, Ryder, Kynlee, Avery, Coleson, and Lexi.
