Ruth Jones Tanner

October 15, 1917 — June 5, 2007

Ruth Jones Tanner, formerly of Meridian Idaho, died 5 June 2007 at her Springville home. The youngest child (of sixteen) of Lottie Sybil Seeley and Joseph Jones, she was born 15 October 1917 in Price, Utah.

She is survived by a daughter and a son, Joyce (Jim) Whiting, and Curtis Partridge Tanner, 13 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Tanner, a son, a daughter, and several babies.

Ruth's pies, hot rolls, porcelain dolls, and green thumb are family famous. Because she lost several children of her own, she loved and enjoyed children and doted on her grandchildren. A faithful member of the LDS church, she never rationalized her personal standards, remaining true to them to the end. She served her church in many capacities including missions with her husband to Zimbabwe and Denver.

Grandma, we know the last dozen years have been lonely ones for you without Grandpa here to tease you unmercifully (and to think you always swallowed the bait). We trust the two of you have had time to determine once and for all whether the car you used for your honeymoon was a Model A or a Model T. We love you and we miss you.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 11, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. in the Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East, 200 South, Springville, Utah. Friends and family may call Sunday from 6 8 p.m. and Monday one hour prior tot the services at the Wheeler Mortuary. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
