Shirley Jean (Nichols) Quirion

Shirley Jean Quirion (Nichols) passed away peacefully on June 11, 2019. Born April 27, 1934 in Price, Utah to Ray & Gladys Nichols. The family moved to Springville, Utah when she was young where she attended school and eventually graduated from Springville High School.

Shirley was my mother. At 32 she adopted me as a baby and gave me a home and parents. At 37, she found herself divorced with a 5 year old, no job, no drivers license and left with a mortgage she could not afford. She learned to drive, got a job as a maid cleaning hotel rooms, sold the house and dived into the business of surviving. We eventually moved to Springville so we could be close to her family. We were poor, but I never went without a thing, she worked hard to provide me a normal childhood. And she succeeded, I had a wonderful childhood, unfortunately at the same time my mother's life was no picnic. She struggled to make ends meet, she made bad decisions with men that would change our lives. But through it all, the ups and downs, the moves to different houses, changing jobs several times and eventually losing it all, she continued to somehow provide for me and make sure I made it to adulthood. I look back now and realize how much she sacrificed for me to have a normal childhood, it wasn't perfect and many would be shocked at what we went through. But I wouldn't change a thing, it has made me who I am today and taught me how to be tough, how to solve problems and how to survive.

All I can say is,Thank You Mom. You did good. You will be missed. I love you.
