Steven Edgar Klauser

Steven Edgar Klauser, 79, of Springville, Utah, passed away on July 27, 2026.

Steve was born on June 27, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, to John Klauser and Mildred Boyer Klauser.

He proudly served his country as a United States Marine, completing two tours in Vietnam. During combat he was wounded three times and was awarded three Purple Hearts. Although he later served in the Army Reserve, Air Force Reserve, and Army National Guard, Steve always considered himself, first and foremost, a Marine. His love of God and country shaped the way he lived for the rest of his life.

Following his military service, Steve worked as an electrician before building a career in civil service in environmental science.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Steve's faith was a foundation of his life. He had a deep love for the gospel of Jesus Christ and was a lifelong student of the scriptures, continually seeking greater understanding. He served faithfully as a family history missionary and later as an ordinance worker in the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple.

Steve's life was marked by duty, determination, resilience, perseverance, and an unwavering sense of responsibility. He loved finding a great bargain and enjoyed giving expressive trinkets to those he loved. His family will also remember the seemingly endless set of wonderfully terrible dad jokes that he had for everyone from cashiers and servers to the countless doctors and nurses who cared for him over the years.

Steve was married four times. His first and third marriages were blessed with his four children. He shared an enduring love with Margaret "Peggy" O'Connor, who preceded him in death in 2020. In June 2020, he married Melody Harrison, who faithfully stood beside him throughout the final years of his life as his wife, caregiver, and constant companion.

Steve is survived by his wife, Melody Harrison Klauser; his children, Steven John Klauser (Kristi), Kerri Klauser Young (John Ray), John Peter Klauser, and Kevin Adam Klauser (Jessica); his grandchildren, Keifer Klauser (Ashley), Hayden Klauser, John Royal Young, Megan Wilkes, Cameron Young, Andrew Young, Eliza Young, and Lucy Klauser; his great-grandchildren, Klayton Klauser and Layne Klauser; and his brother, Robert John Klauser.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mildred Klauser, and his beloved wife, Peggy.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Springville West Stake Center, 996 West Center Street, Springville, Utah.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary in Springville.

Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Springville, Utah.
