Teddi Michelle Smothermon

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Teddi Michelle Smothermon, 61, of Springville, Utah, on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. Teddi, born April 3, 1964, in Laramie, Wyoming, was the eldest daughter of Clayton Marshall Babbitt Jr. and Theodora Ann Babbitt. She and Mark Allen Smothermon were married on December 15, 1983, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.

Teddi lived a life rich with lasting relationships, wide-ranging passions, extraordinary talents, joyful laughter, meaningful professional accomplishments, and unwavering faith. As a wholehearted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Teddi’s time was often given in service — an outward expression of the grace and kindness she carried within. She had a distinct gift for developing people’s talents and encouraging them to pursue their dreams. As a beloved choir teacher, theater director, and vocal coach, Teddi’s unforgettable musical spirit will live on in the talents and memories of many. 

Teddi made others feel at home. Her presence was a sanctuary, and so were the spaces she composed around her. She loved being a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, teacher; and being Nah-Nah (a grandmother) brought her a vast sense of wonder and purpose. 

Teddi is survived by her husband, Mark Allen Smothermon, and their two daughters: Sarah Chaffin of Lehi, Utah, and Kierstin Madsen of Saint George, Utah. Her legacy also lives on through her six grandchildren: Emme, Cali, Scarlett, Alydia, Margot, and Anders, who brought immense joy into her life. 

A memorial service to celebrate Teddi's remarkable life will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 1:30pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meetinghouse located at 2627 E 7th Street in Casper, Wyoming.
