Auburn Terra Parkinson, 31, of Mapleton, passed away June 18, 2016. She was born on February 18, 1985, the precious daughter of Kirk and Gwen (Hood) Parkinson.
She was a kind, loving, beautiful person who cared for every living thing. She was bright and well-educated, earning her Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Utah in 2011. She was tough, competitive and agile, a wonderful gymnast and a gifted athlete. At her work. Terra's favorite patients were those with mental disabilities many of whom benefitted from her kind care. She had worked for Wasatch Mental Health, Provo Regional Medical Center and was currently employed at Salt Lake Regional Medical Center.
Terra was a winner. She was very creative.... writing poetry, sewing quilts or making alterations on her brother’s clothes. She was a world class sister and daughter. Terra is survived by her parents, her beloved brothers and sisters-in-law Jason (Kate) Parkinson of Logan and Cole (Carla) Parkinson of Provo, and grandparents Thomas and Ethel Hood of Provo. She is also survived by her cats Sammy Jane and Birdie. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Kenneth J. and Dona Kirkham Parkinson of St. George.
On Friday, June 24, a visitation will be held at the Wheeler Mortuary in Mapleton (82 W. 400 N.) from 4 to 6 p.m. A personal family celebration of Terra's life will be held at the Parkinson home from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Interment will follow at the Mapleton City cemetery.
In Terra's memory, “pray for those you love and those you don't.” Take an opportunity to care for homeless people and animals.
