Emblem

Virginia Beth Park Sumsion of Springville, passed away at the age of 85 of myeloma bone cancer on November 30, 2021, surrounded by her family at home.

Beth was born on December 1, 1935, to Milton R. Park and Grace Clarkson Park in Murray, Utah. She grew up in a loving home with 5 sisters and 3 brothers in Granger, Utah. She graduated from Cyprus High School. She attended Utah State before moving to the bright lights of Hollywood, California, where she met her soul mate. She married Stanley Calder Sumsion on March 20, 1959, in the Salt Lake City Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Beth and Stan built a future together at Sumsion Poultry Farm, in Springville, Utah. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, served in many church callings, minister, but she is known to all for her comfort, kindness, and positive attitude. She always reminded us to put yourself in others shoes and realize other people’s needs, “see a need, fill a need.”

Beth and Stan served a mission in 1997 to Dublin, Ireland, where they touched the lives of many there. They also served at the Dry Pack Cannery in Springville for 10 years. She embraced so many in the community and her ward. “Because I have been given much, I too must give,” was her life mission.

Beth’s talents are sewing, quilting, gardening in her yard, having a green thumb, baking, serving, and loving everyone (and every animal) she encountered.

Beth is survived by her children Hal Sumsion (Kasey, Melia, Tyler); Rebecca (Mike) Beardall (Kathryn (Greg Olesen; Marshall, Preston) and SaraKay); Darrin (Adrienne) Sumsion (Veronica (Braden Gerrard), Erik (Bailey and Denver), and Vanessa); Andrea (Ralph) Nunn (Natalie, Steven (Shaniel), Kaylee, Bethany, Jenna, Dallin), 14 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren (+2 on the way), Sisters June Wightman and Norma Edwards and Brother John Park.

She is proceeded in death by her husband Stanley Calder Sumsion, her parents Milton and Grace Park, her brothers Merlin Park and Owen Park, her sisters Renee Crane, Ruth Garner and Ann Jacobs, and her daughter-in-law Leslie Sumsion.
