Listen to Obituary

Vivian Lorraine Rasmussen Jensen Schramm, 89 passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025, after courageously battling cancer. She was born on April 21, 1936, in Salt Lake City, Utah (on the family’s kitchen table), to Niels Levie and Ruth Carson Rasmussen.

She grew up in Orem, Utah, where she enjoyed playing with neighborhood friends. She loved ghost stories and comic books, and she had a beautiful singing voice. Vivian participated in Girls’ Glee, Mixed Choir, and A-cappella Choir during her school years.

She graduated from Orem Lincoln High School in 1954.

Vivian was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings.

She met Delbert Dee Ray Jensen and soon after was told by the Spirit that she would marry him. They were married on November 6, 1954. Her husband had three children—Dennis, Vickie, and Guy—and the boys joined the family within two weeks of their marriage. Vivian and Dee Ray were thrilled to learn they were expecting their first child together, but their son Rex was stillborn at full term. This was a devastating loss. They went on to have four daughters: DeAnn, Jannette, Sabrina, and TerriLyn.

The family lived in Genola, Utah, on an 80-acre farm, where there was always plenty of work to do. Vivian loved crafting and made beautiful dolls. She was an avid reader and enjoyed word searches. An accomplished seamstress, she sewed clothes for her children and even made a suit for her husband, Dee Ray.

After 20 years of marriage, Vivian became a widow in November 1974, with two daughters still at home to raise. Later, she became a travel agent with Morris Travel and was fortunate to go on many wonderful trips.

In 1985, Vivian married Orval Ray Schramm. Together they enjoyed traveling and served a mission in Nauvoo. They were married for 26 years until Orval’s passing in December 2011.

Vivian had a deep love and talent for genealogy. She spent countless hours researching and compiling genealogy books for her family.

She was also a member of the Utah Daughters of Pioneers up until her passing. Vivian had a sharp mind and loved sharing stories and history with others.

Vivian spent the last 2½ years at Elk Ridge Assisted Living Center, where she made many friends and deeply appreciated the love and kindness of the aides, nurses, and staff. Her family wishes to thank them for their wonderful care and compassion.

Vivian was preceded in death by her first husband, Delbert Dee Ray Jensen; her second husband, Orval Ray Schramm; her son, Rex; her stepdaughter, Colleen Schramm; and several grandchildren and step-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children: Dennis (Jerri) Jensen; stepdaughter Vickie Robertson; Guy (Peggy) Jensen; DeAnn Jensen; Jannette Jensen Boone; Sabrina (James) Perry; TerriLyn (Ron) Prestwich; and stepchildren Steve (Marcie) Schramm, Mike (Vivian) Schramm, Marianne (Nico) Snel, and Susan (Kory) Kester. She also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who love her dearly.
