Alan R Wilhelmsen

January 29, 1949 — September 13, 2019

Alan R Wilhelmsen was born on January 29,1949 in Logan, Utah to Bruce Wilhelmsen and Meredith Rich, both of St. Charles, Idaho. Alan had an older brother, Bruce Wayne Wilhelmsen, an older sister, Carla Lamph and a younger sister, RaNiel Dunn.
Alan grew up in Pendleton, Oregon and was a natural at sports. He enjoyed baseball, basketball, hunting, golfing, bowling, and floating the McKay Creek with his boyhood friends. He also loved motorcycles.
He graduated from high school in 1967 and served an LDS mission to Perth, Australia from 1968-1970. Shortly before his mission, he dated Wanda Orton, also from Pendleton, and they were married on September 24,1970 in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple.
Alan attended college at BYU in Provo, Utah, working, studying, and providing for a growing family. He was fiercely self reliant, and did this while never asking for help from anyone or going into debt. After 7 long years, He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting in 1977.
He and his family lived in several places over the years, including Burley, Idaho, Payette, Idaho, Puyallup, Washington and Mapleton, Utah while he pursued his profession in Accounting.
Alan was always a faithful, active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served well throughout his life. He served as Ward Financial Clerk, Councilor in the Bishopric, Bishop, Stake Young Men's Presidency, Stake High Councilor at BYU, and 11 year old Scouts Leader. He was happiest when he could do something for someone else. He was a kind and gentle person and was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was also hard working and very dedicated to his family.
In 2013, Alan succumbed to C.A.D.A.S.I.L., a hereditary, degenerative brain disorder, eventually leaving him totally dependent on his family for his physical care.
He remained ever so sweet and humble and was a joy to care for until his time to return to his Heavenly Father's presence on September 13, 2019.
Alan is survived by his wife of 49 years, Wanda Orton Wilhelmsen and their 6 children and 22 Grandchildren.
