Emblem

Catherine Anne Holley Jensen, our beautiful matriarch, left this world on Saturday, January 8, 2022, in Springville, Utah, following a short illness. She was 86 years old. She was born February 10, 1935, in Mapleton, Utah to John Isaac Holley and Pearl Padfield Holley. She married Ruel Alma Jensen on September 16, 1952, in the Salt Lake City Temple. He preceded her in death on May 26, 2004.

Catherine Anne grew up in Mapleton, Utah with her loving family enjoying church activities, socials, and playing in the old school bus her father owned. She attended Springville High School where she was a member of the Steno Club and Yearbook Editor, graduating in 1952. She loved tap dancing and would teach or take classes over the years. She joined the Daughters of Utah Pioneers at age 18 and was an active member, eventually earning her 60-year pin. In 1963, the family moved to Fremont, California. She loved her role as wife, mother, and homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking, genealogy work, reading, music, and singing in the church choir. She also loved talking on the phone and staying connected with relatives and friends. She had an amazing ability of finding how people were related or connected and had several “small world” stories to share. She loved babies and children and was the neighborhood “second mom”. She made “Welcome Baby” cakes for hundreds of new babies born over the years, also gifting receiving blankets crocheted by hand. She acknowledged birthdays and anniversaries of everyone she knew with cards or a phone call with a song for the occasion.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints serving in many leadership roles while also serving her Fremont community. She was a school volunteer, scouting den mother, poll worker, and helped numerous families over the years with her compassionate and selfless acts of service. She served two full time missions with her husband in the Bolivia La Paz Mission and the Utah Boys Ranch CES Mission in West Jordan, Utah. She also served with her husband in the Oakland Temple presidency. Fremont was her home for 53 years, moving to Livermore, CA in 2016, and then to Springville, Utah in July 2020.

She is survived by her four daughters and two sons, Annette Jensen (Jim) Bates of Mapleton UT; Diane Jensen (Jon) Smock of Colorado Springs, CO; Chris Alma (Danna) Jensen of Merced, CA; Cheryl Jensen of Los Gatos, CA; Gayle Jensen (Michael) Jackson of Tracy, CA; and Alan Holley (Deana) Jensen of Livermore, CA; 21 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 11:00 am in the Mapleton Chapel at 31 West Maple. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery. Services under the direction of Wheeler Mortuary of Springville.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Ashford Assisted Living Memory Care and all those who took great care of our mom in the past few years. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Humanitarian Aid Fund, Missionary Fund, or a charity of your choice in her name.
