Don Floyd Phillips

Don Floyd Phillips, 82, of McGill, Nevada and formerly of Springville, Utah passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022. He was born November 22, 1939, to Floyd and Hilda Losser Phillips. He married Sheila Waite on September 18, 1963 in the Manti Utah Temple.

Don grew up on a ranch in Hobble Creek Canyon in Springville. He graduated from Springville High School and was involved in the Future Farmers of America and exhibited livestock at shows and fairs. He graduated from Snow College, Central Utah Valley Vocational School and attended Utah State University where he met Sheila.

He was a welding instructor at Utah Valley University for 31 years. He farmed property in West Springville and was a board member of the Springville Livestock Association, Springville Water Users Association and Utah Country Fair Livestock Committee.

In 2000, a dream of his was realized when he and Sheila purchased the Steptoe Ranch in White Pine County, Nevada. While ranching he had the opportunity to serve on the advisory boards for the Water Advisory Committee, White Pine Soil Conservation District, and White Pine FSA County Committee. He was elected to the Board of Directors for Mt. Wheeler Power. He held that position for 12 years.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing and visiting. He could and would talk to anyone.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila and three children. Trudy Phillips, Provo, Utah. Nichole (Lance) Moore, McGill, Nevada. Burke (JeriLynn) Phillips, Eagle Mountain, Utah and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in McGill, Nevada on Saturday, January 29th at 11:00 AM. A visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 AM at the McGill Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

A graveside service will be held Monday, January 31st at the Historic Springville City Cemetery at 11:00 AM. A visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 am at Wheeler Mortuary located at 211 E. 200 S. in Springville.
