Our sweet and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 24th at the age of 91, surrounded by her family.

A viewing will be held for Dorothy from 10:30 am to 11:30 am at the Springville 9th Ward with funeral services starting at 12:00 pm, on Saturday June 3rd.  Graveside services will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville.

Dorothy was born on May 2, 1932 in Springville, Utah, to her parents Horace and Tranquilia Clark. She was the second child in the Clark family. Her siblings were Fred, Stephen, andCarolyn. Dorothy and Carolyn became the best of friends. All the siblings played significant roles in each other’s lives throughout the years.

Dorothy spent her formative years growing up in Springville, Utah.  She graduated from Springville High School, was an excellent student, and an accomplished musician.  She was the first chair violinist in the BYU Symphony, and the BYU faculty string ensemble.  Her siblings were also musically talented, they would often pull out their instruments and strum together, which then created wonderful memories for all who knew them.

Dorothy met the man of her dreams in Springville while working at Monty’s Café, where Bert’s mom Bernice was the cook.  She married Bertram Dean Miner in the Logan Temple on July 23, 1952.  They have four wonderful children- Denis (Shauna), Alan (Cindy), Jan (Craig), and Julie (Steve).

In 1967 Bert was transferred to Campinas, Brazil.  Dorothypacked up her household and her children and they moved below the equator with Bert to Campinas. Her time there was spent learning to speak Portuguese, making new friends, and getting her kids adjusted to a new culture and country. After leaving her adventures in Brazil, Dorothy went on to complete her Nursing degree in Bethesda, Maryland.

Dorothy’s talents were many.  She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers for 40 years where she served in many roles.  The friends that Dorothy made there were so important to her.

She was an avid collector of dolls of all kinds. She became very proficient in making porcelain dolls and she would paint the most beautiful faces on them. They would be dressed in the finest of clothes and she would make sure they all found homes in the loving arms of friends and family.  Dorothy found time to work on her genealogy, and then made family history books for each of her children.  She loved to quilt, can fruits and vegetables, scrapbook, and garden. In her later years she became an avid coin and stamp collector.

Dorothy was blessed with an amazing outlook on life. Even though she had many serious health challenges, she alwaysmanaged to maintain a positive attitude.

She is preceded in death by her parents Horace and Tranquilia, her husband Bert, her brothers Fred (Maureen), Stephen (Marcia), and a granddaughter Krystal Lauren ( AJ) She is survived by her favorite sister Carolyn (Blaine), and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who love her and will miss her dearly.

A debt of gratitude is expressed to many.  Thank you Frankie for making it possible for Dorothy to live in her home for as long as she did.  You and your family gave Dorothy such loving care. Thank you to the Beehive House in Salem, who cared for Dorothy in the last year of her life. Thank you Mary for all that you did for her, and by going above and beyond to make sure her quality of care was awesome. You always showed her such kindness. Thank you to her favorite nurse and friend, Bonnie of ICare Home and Hospice, for helping Dorothy’s last year of life be as comfortable and peaceful as possible. The family would also like to express their gratitude to all who watched over this beautiful family through the years.

If so desired, flowers may be sent to Wheeler Mortuary by Friday, June 2nd, or donations may be made to Daughters of the Utah Pioneers in Dorothy’s name.
