E. LaRae (Strickland) Castagno

LaRae returned to her heavenly home Thursday January 20, 2022 and has been reunited with her husband Dale. LaRae and her twin sister LaRee were born November 2, 1937 to Edna May and James Strickland in the American Fork, Utah hospital. LaRae attended elementary school in Cedar Fort, Utah and graduated from Lehi High School in 1956. LaRae lived in Cedar Fort until she was sealed to Dale Castagno November 21, 1958 in the Salt Lake City Temple. They made their first home in Erda, Utah where they ran the family’s cattle ranch.

LaRae welcomed all of her 6 children: Stan, Robert, LuAnn, Dian, Steve, and Ryan to their home in Erda. She and Dale moved their family to Weiser, Idaho and then to Portage, Utah to ranch and farm. Life then took the family on a new adventure to Jackson, Wyoming as owners of Turpin Meadow Guest Ranch where LaRae was the kitchen and office manager. She and Dale moved from Wyoming to Mapleton, Utah. After Dale passed, LaRae resided in Orem and Provo and developed many loving friendships.

LaRae was a rancher’s wife and cared for everything living. She considered her family the most important part of her life. Her compassion, love, and care for everyone was evidenced by the meals she prepared, the time she spent caring for others, and most notably through the bonds of friendship with everyone she met. Her legacy lives on through children: Stan Castagno, Robert and Tina Bullcreek, LuAnn and Thomi Barker, Dian and Shaun Nelson, Steve and Niki Castagno, Ryan and Tracy Castagno, her 13 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 29 at 11:00 am at the LDS Chapel 1260 W. 1150 N., Provo, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral services from 9:00-10:30am.
