Earl Fitzgerald Dunn

February 18, 1964 — July 15, 2020

The families of Earl Fitzgerald Dunn of Lindon, Utah unite to grieve his death and remember his life. He passed away due to heart failure on July 15, 2020 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.
Earl was born into his first family on February 18, 1964 in Payson, Utah to James Webb and Carolee Hone Dunn.  He was greeted by three brothers and two sisters. He was the youngest and most adored and teased baby brother. He grew up loving baseball and other sports and most always had a dog to love.  He grew up in Spanish Fork and Benjamin Utah graduating from Spanish Fork High School. He also attended UVU and served an LDS mission to North Carolina.  His family of origin grew to include Ronald (Patricia) Dunn of Spanish Fork, Darrel Dunn (Suzanne) of Santaquin, Patty Tew-Barlow (Kim) of Mapleton, Paul Dunn (Lynette) of Goshen, Idaho, and Kathleen Bolden (Jamel) of Orlando Florida.  He has many nieces and nephews from the Dunn family who thought he was the coolest uncle anyone could possibly have.
Earl expanded his family when he married Bonita Wilson Davis who came complete with two amazing children, Kody and Kami, and in-laws Verl and Barbara Wilson.  Earl absolutely loved them dearly.  KaitLyn and Kade were born into this family and they had many happy family experiences as they grew together.  Earl was an attentive father who listened to and played with his children.  They played sports together (including the infamous game of knee football), vacationed together, worked together and created many good memories.  He was the fun dad who got right in the middle of things with them. They were sealed in the Mount Timpanogos Temple.
Earl added to his family again later in life when he married Shona Jensen.  She was the mother-in-law of his niece, Harmony Jensen, making him a grandfather and uncle to some of his new family members.  They fondly called him Gruncle Earl.  The Jensen family also loved and appreciated Earl’s playfulness, wit, and caring nature.  He became an important part of that family.  Shona preceded Earl in death.
Another important family to Earl was his Work Family.  Earl worked as a Psych Tech and in Security for many years at the Utah State Hospital. Earl was also working to obtain his CNA license. His fellow workers enjoyed working with him. He worked well with all staff and was kind to the patients. He was a great officer and was always there for the staff’s safety.  He was kind, empathetic, and respectful. He loved joking around. Earl’s calm nature and ability to take everything in stride were great assets. Fellow staff members say that work will not be the same without him and his smile.
Earl found pleasure in simple things.  He loved to camp and fly fish especially if Lucy (his nine-year old Chihuahua) could go with him.  He loved baseball, the Utah Jazz, music, concerts, collecting antique toys, and his beard.  Earl is leaving a big hole in a lot of hearts.  We look forward to the next life when all that needed to be said can be said.  Earl’s families, including stepchildren, in-laws, and grandchildren too many to list (but very loved) look forward to being able to enjoy Earl’s pleasant personality and easy-going nature in times to come.  His parents, who preceded him in death, can enjoy him in the meantime.
We extend special thanks to Earl’s work friends and first responders who tried so hard to keep Earl with us.  Thank you to Cindy Taylor for adopting Beloved Lucy Dog Dunn.
