Evelyn (Henrichsen) Wolsey

Evelyn Henrichsen Wolsey, 100, of Springville, Utah, died peacefully in her home on Sunday, November 14, 2021.  She was born on March 26, 1921 in Provo, Utah to Edwin Roy Henrichsen and Beulah Marie Giles Henrichsen. She married Rex Justin Wolsey on September 23, 1940 in Heber City, Utah.  They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on February 5, 1954. Rex preceded her in death on May 30, 1970.
Evelyn owned and operated the Springville Motel for eighteen years. She also sold Avon and was a member of the Presidents Club at one point. After the motel was sold, she worked for a brief time as a dispatcher at the Springville Police Department.
Evelyn had six children and twenty six grandchildren. As great-grandchildren came along, she acquired her family grew, she became GG—Great Grandma—and loved it.
Evelyn loved gardening and grew both vegetable and flowers. She was a talented artist with oil painting and water colors. She enjoyed quilting and sewing. She loved live theatre and had season tickets to several theaters. Many years she hosted performers for the Springville World Folkfest.
Evelyn was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in multiple callings. In her late 80s, she was very surprised when she was called as a counselor in her ward Relief Society presidency.  She had a lovely second soprano voice and sang in many Relief Society and Church choirs.
Evelyn volunteered at the Springville Museum of Art for over fifty years.  She loved the museum and the education that she received there.  Her favorite exhibits were the All State High School Show, the Spring Salon and the Quilt Show.
Evelyn is survived by five children: Steven (Bobi) Wolsey, of Payson, Utah; Connie (Terry) Rey, of Springville, Utah; Joan (Ed) Kamper of Lehi, Utah; Kenneth (Trish) Wolsey of San Diego, California; Colleen (Brent) Riggs of Golden, Colorado; 26 grandchildren and over 45 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rex; her son, David Jerry Wolsey; and her grandson, Kenneth Scott Wolsey.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 18 at 11:00 am at the Spring Creek Ninth Ward Chapel located at 55 North Main Street, Springville, Utah.  A viewing for friends and family will be held that same morning from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at the same location. Burial will be at Provo City Cemetery.
