Gay Louise (French) Ross

August 5, 1939 — December 30, 2020

Springville

Gay Louise French Ross, a caring and sweet wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, returned peacefully to the arms of her Heavenly Father on the evening of December 30th, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents Wayne Morris French, Eula Geneva Newman and her brother Thomas Wayne French. She is survived by her children Anthony (Tony) Ross, Rebecca (Becky) Clark, Launa Johnson, Wayne Ross, as well as her 30 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Her children were always her greatest pride and joy, and her dedication to her family lives on through the generations.

Gay was born August 5th, 1939 in Weiser, Idaho. She was a straight-A student in high school, where she learned the bookkeeping and secretarial skills that would carry her through the rest of her life and career. Notably, she typed and edited three of her mother’s published books. She also worked as a talented and well-loved accountant’s assistant, legal secretary, and call center associate. Additionally, she supported her husband’s many business ventures as a secretary, bookkeeper and accountant, most recently for their hotel in Boise, Idaho.

Gay was also a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She volunteered many years of devoted service to the Seattle Temple as a temple worker and shift coordinator. Gay and her husband Dave also served as missionaries for the newly-established Manhattan New York Temple, where they officiated in its very first session.

Gay was an infinite source of kindness, love, gratitude, and joy. Everyone who knew her loved her. She had an extraordinary talent for making close and lasting personal friendships everywhere she went, including her many travels to Mexico and recently at the Ashford Care Center. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends, but the light she brought to them will always be cherished and remembered.

Her family would like to thank her fantastic hospice nurse, Tangi. Also, the wonderful friends and staff at the Ashford for their care and offer a special thank you to her current caregivers Stella, Karoline and Hea.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 2nd, 2021 via Zoom at 9:30 am. Interment will be at the Springville City Cemetery.
